Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that Aphonso Thomas looked really really good (minus that one fumble). On one hand it is exciting to have a back of his caliber, on the other hand it means we might not get to see Montana very much until he is a senior... Although, with those 3 we could run a triple option for a just to throw people off lol...

Aphonso Thomas didn't fumble. It was Andrew Robinson at the 2:10 mark in the 4th quarter.

Both fumbles were by backups. I don't know why Montana Miller didn't play much. After this week, it is clear we need a backup qb. If Bowden is going to fumble, he won't play.

I agree the that the fans are stagnant. Again, not many people who are vested in the program are actual alums, and the student section should be much bigger. I do think they do a pretty good job on 3rd and 4th down.

Aphonso fumbled as well, we just recovered it.

Our fans are never the most rowdy bunch but the excuse for this weekend could be that it was Family Weekend. So a lot of parents with students that had some excitement at the start of the game, things slowed and they headed for the exits since "we always win".

Interesting, I was going to try and re-watch the ETBU/UMHB game on ETBU's website (they usually archive everything).   They're using Instagram for live streams now... I can't seem to find anything archived.

True.  Poor ol' Aphonso slugged it out between the tackles for most of his 26 carries and held on to the ball nicely.  But just let him get loose around the left side (headed for an apparent 20 yd+ gain) and he drops the ball while switching it between hands.  We were lucky he recovered it. Sorry that he didn't get much of a chance to show his speed because he was running in traffic all day.

I was actually trying to do something similar, I think they have a busted link somewhere. This should get you where you want to go https://goetbutigers.com/watch/?Archive=640&type=Archive

Yeah... Here are the games I've been able to find that we can still watch:

Southwestern at Belhaven: Southwestern Stream - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4Gq__1KBNA Belhaven Stream - https://blazers.belhaven.edu/watch/?Archive=214&type=Live
Austin College At TLU: https://portal.stretchinternet.com/tlu/portal.htm?eventId=658688&streamType=video

Anyone trekking down to Georgetown next weekend?  I think I'm going to drag my camera out for this game...

Redding should be your QB2.

I've got to give Ryan props for sticking it out here for for the duration, but I don't know that I'd go that far. Moments like this one among many others are why I think the Cru still have Tommy at QB2:

Yep, I'm here under the handle Reverendbiker.  I have also wondered if Redding shouldn't be the #2.  Players say he's as fast as Tommy (though not as elusive) and a much better passer. I also love him for staying with the program.  I just can't help but think that there might be a better place for Tommy, but darned if I can name one.  Running back?  We're already stacked 4 deep there.  Receiver?  We've currently got more quality there than I've ever seen.  So that kinda leaves one place for him--wildcat QB, sort of like the role DeNerian Thomas played so well until he was hurt in 2018.  Problem is, he played that role on Saturday and promptly fumbled.  And Pete does not tolerate fumblers.  That kills me, because Bowden is a great kid and a real talent.  I just don't know where I'd play him.

On another note, they all better be looking over their shoulders at Jerry Cephus on the JV team.  I've just seen him in 2 games, but I swear he throws the ball as well as any QB I've ever seen in a Cru uniform.  My bet is that he'll be varsity when the JV season ends, and I can't wait to see him playing with the big boys.

I feel bad for Tommy because I feel like he/the team/fans came into the spring with big expectations for him and it just didn't go well as it seemed to get into his head. As a baseball fan I have wondered if he needs to be sent to the minors (JV) to get back on track and just play football. Clearly the coaching staff values his athleticism, how many other teams have their back up QB as a kick returner so I do like the idea of finding ways to get him on the field but it feels like a reset is in order for him to be the QB he wants to be.

Also I didn't get a chance to watch the JV game last night (was it streamed?) but I agree that Jerry did look very good against the HSU JV team as well as numerous of his teammates.

Now that I look at it, their passing stats are a lot closer than I expected. Maybe I just want Tommy to succeed because of the mullet lol. The only other thing I can think is they're playing the long game trying to get Tommy ready for next year. Also, he has looked pretty good this year minus that unfortunate fumble. Hopefully both of them get a lot of reps this weekend vs Southwestern; but, I could see coach getting the first team more reps in prep for Hardin Simmons...

Thimgs are quiet did we get lost in the reorganization?
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Sure seems that way, wish we could recruit more people from the ASC in general.

While the 2 deep isn't gospel, I see no Brandon Jordan and no kj Miller on this week's. Going to be interesting if so.
