That really is an awesome sailfish!  Five?  I always heard they were HARD to catch.  Clue us in...

Going fly-fishing in Wyoming (Grand Tetons) in September.  I hope my trout is that BIG!   ;)

I hope you plan on catching more than one.  But the scenery is worth it even if you get skunked. :)

RooCru,

Glad to see you on the board.  Looks like you had a great time in Costa Rica.  I look forward to hearing about it if we cross paths at one of the games.

When is coaching school?

DSC,

The Pacific Coast of Costa Rica is a fantastic billfish fishery.  The fish migrate north and south along the coast and you have to be in the right area at the right time.  I went seven years ago on the southern part of the coast at the same time of year and we caught one sail in three days of fishing.  Fortunately my research paid off and we were at the right place this time.

The biggest thrill was the estimated 500 lb marlin I had on for about 7-8 minutes.  He hit the smallest reel on the boat and stripped the gears.  We were trying to attach a different reel to the bad one and the captain had the boat at full throttle with the marlin greyhounding 30 feet from the boat.  Before we could make the switch the marlin made a sharp left turn and the line snapped.  I know the best fish story is the last one but this was an awesome sight. By the way, if you catch a trout that big call me immediately and I'll be there. ;D

Bill,

Coaching school is Sunday, July 30 thru Wednesday, August 3.  It is in Austin this year.

Right now my plans are to watch UMHB against TLU, HSU, & Whitewater.  I think I an also going to watch my Roos four times.  AC plays TLU and Trinity at Seguin and San Antonio so those are short trips for me.

Thought you might like to see a picture of Mrs. Roocru and one of her two sails.  Kind of dwarfs her, doesn't it. :o

Greetings Mr. Roocru,

We could sure use one of those for a fish fry at Stone Station this year! :o

Good to see you are still enjoying life. Missed you guys at the Stagg last year but the Whitewater fans were cool too.

Hope your boy, well I guess he is a man now, is doing well. Keep up the success then we can look forward to another meeting in Salem.

Take care,

When do the schools report for fall practice?

Zmotion10 out on 2

Not 100% sure, but I think August 10.

Pat Coleman

Every school is different. It's a complicated formula based on the date of the first game and the day classes start.
