It appears that ETBU is playing UW-O
I like how ETBU plays the WAIC schools.

Etchglow,
I think you will be surprised at the UMBH schedule. I predict game 1 at home  and game 2 on the road.
No Simpson or North American University on this schedule.

That'll be cool.  I'm always up for surprises!

Might be beating True to the Cru to posting this but just read his article on new OC, former player Andy Padron and it has some interesting quotes.

"I think probably one of the big differences between what the offenses looked like in previous seasons and now is we'll have more passing concepts and really force teams to worry about us throwing the ball," Padron said. "We want to be able to throw the ball down the field and execute through the air, and not necessarily have to throw RPO stuff or one-on-one type stuff.

With everything we could/should have coming back plus this mindset, we could put up some serious points.

That vibes with what Coach Harmon said in his interview saying that he wanted the offense to be exciting.  I'm looking forward to what the team looks like in the next year.  I've noticed that the social media team is doing a better job with spring practice than they have in the past.

Centenary [LA] has their football coach, former Evangel and LSU star Byron Dawson, who comes over from Tulane where he was DL coach since March 2020.  Prior to that he was HC at Evangel, where he worked his way up from DL coach to DC to HC in a 15-year career.

What they don't have - yet - is a conference to play in.

UMHB season Tickets go on sale on the 11th.  5 home games.  Sounds like the schedule is ready!

What are your thoughts?

Centenary is a member of the Associated Colleges of the South (acsouth.edu. Note the new domain name.)

IYHO, as of today, what are the odds where they will land?
Thanks.

No way they made this move without basically having an invite to some conference in hand .....right?

A lot of the schools in that group have something in common:

Perhaps -- the fact that they aren't starting play until 2024 gives some leeway.

If a conference can have 6 for an AQ, then I am looking for someone to add football in the SCAC... St Thomas, a D3 option for an academically strong school in Houston (#20 of 126 Regional Universities in the West by USNWR)? Schreiner?

That would give you: (1) Trinity TX,  (2) TLU, (3) Southwestern, (4) Austin College, (5) Centenary and ... #6?

And leaves the ASC with 6.

Thanks for putting this up. Had been away from my computer most of the day, but yes, Padron definitely has some good plans for the offense. Made it clear that they aren't going air-raid or anything like that-the run game will still be huge-but placed a big emphasis on getting the most out of the receiving corps. Great to have another Cru alum back on the coaching staff. Talking with him, he certainly embodies everything UMHB stands for. Great hire to say the least.

Padron and the o line hire Cannata worked together at TLU so there is a built in chemistry between them.

Austin signed a four-year agreement to play in the ASC, the last of which is 2024.  I don't know what the penalty to leave a year early would be but it does complicate the issue of the SCAC re-adding football even if it could talk St. Thomas into it.  And I don't see Schreiner or UDallas (or sadly Colorado College, RIP CC football) being interested at all.  Restarting a conference football program at the absolute minimum number of teams needed for a bid seems questionable, especially with the possibility that Division III changes the rules again for AQs for just football.

So that leaves us with the SAA and the ASC as possible landing sites for Centenary.  Academically, at least in terms of admissions, I don't think they meet the SAA's standard, and I also doubt that the eastern schools want to add another long trip west every other year.  My money would be on the ASC as the most likely place, at least as an affiliate and possibly even as a full member.  Regardless of where they end up it's going to be interesting; their enrollment is somewhere around 550, 60/40 female, and bringing 100 football athletes to the school, if they are successful, will be a big change in several regards.
