Understandable.  DCTF = Dave Campbell's Texas Football, a well-known publication in the state that has recently expanded its coverage from high school/D1 football into other divisions.  There are more people who will see this here than in the SCAC board and it's not relevant to the SAA.

And I must give big time props to Cory Hogue who did the rankings, unlike others who pretend to cover non FBS teams he truly covers as much as he can.

ETBU 2024 SOFTBALL NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!!!!!

They beat Belhaven in 3 games.

Their second softball national championship...... the other was won in 2010.

Could Wayland Baptist and Texas College be jumping from the SAC to the ASC?

They are both pretty awful...but it would be a lifeline none the less I suppose.

That would result in 6 teams. I believe the NCAA requires 7 teams for a multisport conference. You only need 6 for the AQ in any given sport, but need 7 to have a conference. If I'm not correct, someone in the know will correct what I just said.

I had no idea Texas College was non athletic scholarship in the NAIA.  At least in football.

No wonder they are a doormat in the SAC.

Wayland is a long shot. But not impossible.

Next choice I guess would be NAU.  I don't see SAGU or Texas Wesleyan being interest.

With the announcement of Hendrix moving to the SCAC...this pretty much solidifies them in football.  They now have 6 members for football for 2025....and 7 when Schriener gets up and running.

Looks like they can tell everyone in the ASC to kick rocks....which seems to have been the plan from the beginning.

Without Hendrix and Schriener they might would have been forced to look at HPU and ETBU.  Seems that ship has sailed.

Looking at the map.....unless the ASC can work some magic and recruit some NAIA schools from the SAC...the conference is toast.

Looks like LSC for HSU and UMHB.
Going to guess HPU heads to the SAC
and my guess is ETBU either heads  to the SAC too or longshot to the GAC.  LSC is a long sho....just doesn't make travel sense.

Absolutely. Pretty clear at this point that the ASC schools aren't going to receive any sort of help from the SCAC. I also think this might rule out the possibility of Austin College moving to the SAA as Hendrix would've been the travel partner there. So the SCAC is on a very solid foundation at this point, and with 12 full member institutions in 2025, they have no real need to add any more.

I think there is still an outside chance HPU gets a SCAC invite to give McMurry a travel partner, but at the end of the day, keeping it at 12 with McMurry and Concordia being travel partners in volleyball/soccer/baseball/basketball/softball makes a lot of sense. Gives you 2 6-team divisions, and now football is very secure, whether Schreiner gets football going by 2025 or not.

Travel partners would be the only thing that could potentially save ETBU because it's only 25 minutes from Letourneau and only 45 mins from Centenary. I'm sure both would love another close option.

Outside of that.... The writing is on the wall.

I know business is business... but this sure seems mean-spirited in how it's all gone down.

The fact that there is still no word from the ASC front offices is very disappointing.

Easy explanation......nothing to report.
No one is interested in joining.
Easy check to draw for 2 years while they start looking for new jobs.

I would have to agree. Why announce you have nothing to announce?

Does anyone know anything about Westgate Christian University?
I've seen them on a few ASC schools schedules but could find very little on them at all.

Riley Zayas

Appears to be a program in its first season of play. They are independent from NAIA/NCAA and as a result, games against them will not count towards a team's record or its official stats (in other words, all games against them are going to be scrimmages/exhibitions). They do have a campus map on their website that includes offices, classrooms, a football field, a gym, and a student center...though the current address listed on their website does not correspond with a college campus per a search on google maps. As of right now, though, it seems they are at the very least, a legitimate college institution and they have a full schedule put together.

Per their website, the 2024 schedule is:
Sept 7: at Texas College
Sept 14: at UMHB
Sept 21: at John Melvin
Sept 30: at TLU (vs TLU's JV)
Oct 5: at Howard Payne
Oct 14: at NAU (vs NAU's JV)
Oct 19: at ETBU
Oct 26: at Quincy
