If any McMurry fans are trekking to Sherman this weekend for the McM-AC game, please say "hi", as I'll be on the field shooting pictures of the game.

Also, don't forget to check out images from the contest under the "Photo Galleries" link on the front page of this site.  Parents and players, remember that any purchases of photos from the games you choose to make help to support the ongoing operation of d3football.com!

First post so I might as well make it a bold one: TLU 35 Trinity 21. The Bulldogs are loaded on offense and defense. Vyvial will pick up right where Salinas left off.

Bill McCabe

tlcbdawg, that would be something to see indeed.  If TLU beats Trinity, I think they become and immediate co-favorite in the ASC.

minni

Its Trinity, not UMHB or HSU or Mt Union or Linfield.

Bill, what are you going to say next week when Hardin-Simmons beats Linfield.  I mean I think in my heart they will, but do they immediately become a finalist for the National Championship.  Trinity is not even in our conference and I am extremely positive our top two teams could handle Trinity with no problems.

GO TLU!!!!

After seeing TLU last year and considering the talent that they brought back (plus so many returners) these guys are for real.  I predict that they do beat Trinity.  These guys are in the hunt.

Now with that said, the Cowboys looked unstoppable last week against a SP team that also returned the house from last year.  We also played without two key starters on defense.  If they stay healthy these Cowboys are nothing like the team that TLU saw last year.  Again I would like to see how we matchup against Linfield but I'm feeling very good about the game. (Good point minni about a Cowboy win next week...then what?)

TLU, UMHB, HSU, & HPU all have the ability to beat the others so it will be a fun season.

What's the word on the injury front, Z?

Minni,  Without Bret Elliott, I don't think Linfield is a national finalist.  Trinity is a proven program and they beat up ETBU.  A win by TLU makes them a legitimate contender with UMHB and HSU.  And if I remember correctly, they beat HSU last year.  Without Salinas, I wasn't expecting them to contend.

baddog

Bill -- Yep, but HSU was decimated with injuries. Anything can happen, but you can't compare what TLU did against HSU last year to TLU will do this year (until it happens) any more than you can make any viable conclusions from what they did against AC last week.
It's kind of like ETBU. TU whupped up on them last week, but is that due to TU being that good or to ETBU continuing to be consistently inconsistent?
POh, I will be pulling for TLU against TU, but I will stick by my prediction (TU by 17) and hope TLU proves me wrong.
Not really a bad dog. Just misunderstood!

Bill McCabe

TLU beat HSU last year, played UMHB even, and if they beat Trinity that is a pretty good resume for a contender in any conference.

minni

one key win against a non conference team does not make you a contender in one the strongest conferences in the nation.  last year is last year and it was a disappointing season to be a Cowboy.  very un-Cowboy like.  you are right they finally beat us last year, but i still dont consider them a threat.

GO TLU!!!!!  Always pulling for the conference!!!

and rightfully you should be.  I am just as aprehensive. HSU gets a nice rest and some focused practice. That's what it's all about. Kudos to both programs for the scheduling.

As for the contender without Elliott comment...OK.
2002 quarterfinalists, 2003 quarterfinalists, 2004 finalists,
2005 quarterfinalists
That would mean only the 2004 team was a contender. (?)

Our own Keith McMillan is at the game, and to summarize what he told me at halftime, it could be worse for UMHB right now as CNU had two long plays called back because of penalties. However, he reminds me that UMHB's pounding can wear at teams in the second half.

CNU has had no success running the ball but has completed long passes on the UMHB secondary.

Wow ... shocker from back east.  Travelling that far is never easy and no doubt was a factor.

McMurry won 23-0 over Austin College but AC blew numerous scoring chances .. two missed chip-shot FGs and two other possessions with the ball inside the one only to get zip out of it.
