Waiting to hear a score, but apparently TU QB Barmore is out with an injury.   Someone named Wilson is in at QB, not having much success.

7-2 TLU with 1:30 left in the first half.  Broadcast keeps cutting out on me.

Trinity has like 60 total yards of offense so far.  4 of 16 passing in the first half.   TLU has a little over 100 yards.

Further updates on the ASC game update boards.  A shout out to historymajor who is on the TU broadcast.

Congratulations to TLU for the big win and for proving me wrong. (By the way, the latter is nothing to brag about. Happens all the time. Ask my wife and kids. ;D)
Not really a bad dog. Just misunderstood!

Great win for TLU.  That makes the game on the 23rd in Belton very interesting.

Congrats and great win For TLU.

This board has been extremely quiet!!!!  Nothing being said by UMHB fans??  Just curious as to whats on people's mind about week 2?  Does HSU have some momentum rolling into week 3 after a Linfield loss?  Im going to be making the trip to Abilene next week for the game.  Any Oregon folk going to make the long trek???  Just trying to put some life into the board some.

billybaroo

I know as a UMHB fan that I am still in shock. Maybe why the Cru fans and so quiet.  We have something to prove this week don't know if I would want to be Sul Ross right now could be some aggression taken out next week in Alpine.

Or maybe Sul Ross is thinking can't wait to get the Cru here Saturday

Ron Boerger

Well, let's be realistic.  After a long trip, UMHB played poorly (except the rushing defense - excellent job there!) and was one yard away from winning the game anyway.  And, as Ralph pointed out elsewhere, this was UMHB's first game, CNU's second, and teams improve markedly between the first and second game.

Sometimes a loss like this is exactly what a team needs to focus it for the rest of the season.

Question for the UMHB fans; Why isn't #23 the featured back? It seemed like he went 5-8 yards every time that kid touched the ball and it took 3 or 4 defenders to take him down. The first time I saw that kid run I thought "We are in trouble". I was very surprised that he was not utilized more. You also had one tall receiver (Can't remember his #) who went up for a couple of great catches but he also seemed under utilized. As a CNU fan I really felt like UMHB didn't adjust their game plan. I think they were out coached. However it seemed like they are loaded with talent. Although travel is definitely a factor CNU had 2 touchdowns called back. This game could have easily been 29-10.

Lastly to Ron, UMHB was not "one yard away from a winning". The score was not indicative of this game. All in all, one of the better games I have seen in a while. I think UMHB is going to do very well this year.

No, it appears UMHB was a half yard away from winning.  The score is all that really matters, not what could have or should have been.  A TD would have made it a 16-15 win.

tlcbdawg

14-9. Not quite the offensive output I would have thought but a win is a win! Take care of business in Mississippi!

tcheadhunter, it would be fun if the teams could play again later this year, say in November!  :D

HALLELUJAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   TLU is NATIONALLY ranked at #21 for the first time in NCAA D-3 since it's program was revived in 1998 and Trinity is NOT!!!!!  TLU has not been 2-0 in since 1976 when they were NAIA NATIONAL CHAMPIONS (Deja VU? Time will tell).  This was the first win over TU in 6 years!!!!!!!

The "Cru" drops EIGHT spots with a truly dissappointing performance against an UNRANKED opponent!!!!  A newspaper insert focused on UMHB fall sports quoted Coach Fred last week as saying that they would repeat as ASC champs this year and that TLU had no running game and would probably finish fourth.  Well....looks like the DAWGS had a ground attack against Austin College (45-0) and AND Trinity (14-9) with 130 yards on the ground versus TU's TWLEVE yards rushing, THREE INT's for 42 yeards against TU.  TU Beat TLU in the air with 205 passing yards. TLU is going to surprise many people this year!

UMHB is a very good team and nothing is to be taken from that but their arrogant fans who have dawged (pun intended) TLU since 1998 have had their comeuppance.  UMHB players are very cordial and have great sportsmanship.  The fans posting on here in years past have not been so gracious.  UMHB are not to be posting on here but I am sure every now and again there is a bad apple that gets on unnoticed.  September 23rd will be a day of reckoning for TLU.  To hold on to a national rankning they have to beat great teams like UMHB and HSU.  Until that happens it is a 3 way toss up for the ASC this season with TLU FINALLY having an actual shot at it!

We have a great coaching staff with Tom mueller who demands discipline and excellence as a standard.  We will be a respected football team now.  Good luck to ALL ASC teams this year.

Congrats on beating Trinity at last, but keep in mind you were facing the scout team QB most of the game, a kid who had never taken a college snap before facing your aggressive defense.  The #2 was suspended due to an unspecified team rule violation.   As you could see from looking at the stats and watching the game, the #3 QB started to finally figure things out in the fourth quarter.   TU had 70 yards total in the first three quarters, twice that in the fourth even without a running game to take the pressure off of the passing game.  Props to your guys for getting the INTs in crunch time, because had they not the result could have been quite different.

BTW try travelling 1,000 miles for your season opener before mocking a team for losing in that scenario.  There's a lot of difference between a half-hour bus trip to San Antonio and opening before a large hostile crowd after travelling for six hours and spending the night in a strange motel.

It's worth mentioning that Trinity's starting RB was also out for the season with a knee injury suffered last week.   You likely won't face such wounded opponents in ASC play.  I'd be careful about labelling other posters as "arrogant" when you waited until beating Trinity before making your initial appearance here.   It must have been hell to have to wait six years.

You gotta love the fans that only chime in AFTER their team wins, rather than support them all along.  Congrats to TLU on a big win for their program, but don't think that one win makes you a runaway favorite for the ASC title.  I think HSU and UMHB will have something to say about that.
