I didn't really know when he was going to be back, so I didn't know what to say.

He's back tonight, though.

While I am flattered these sorts of comments are not terribly helpful.   Writing a weekly column isn't easy, especially when it's done as a labor of love.  It can take a while to get into a rhythm and establish lines of communications with the various SIDs, not to mention get a handle for programs that are scattered across a good part of the country.

I would encourage folks who have concrete suggestions/requests to contact Chris directly rather than posting this sort of thing here.   His email address is at the bottom of his ATR columns.

Minni:

You might wish to consider that I ignored your previous post on the subject for a reason.

Then throw in Carrillo.  This receiver is also very dangerous.  He is very strong and if he breaks a tackle he also is gone.  He did that on Linfield for about a 60 yarder to start the 3 rd quarter.

If anyone would like to see that play, it is posted on youtube.  I just happened to be playing with the video feature on my digital camera at the right time.  Here's the link

My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Pat - A simple announcement that the column would be missing, but would return soon would have been sufficient. Apparently in the absence of information, frustration rushes in.

Perhaps, fanatic, but I don't like to post something I'm not 100% sure of.

Besides, other regional columns have missed a week before without people getting all up in arms. I was really surprised by the emotional overreaction to this.

I guess we are just die hard fans and we want to read about what others have to say!  I was also checking it every day to see when it was going to be posted.

Sorry for confusing those who answered.  I saw them HSU at an even lower point last year than TLU.  It was the UMHB game.  In the warm up, I noticed a discrepancy between the two teams' linemen.  UMHB was big and tall.  They looked like the kind of athletes that you need to win at the upper level.  HSU was thick but squatty up front, and while I knew they were good, on sight they weren't as impressive.  As the game unfolded, HSU showed a complete and total inability to stop the UMHB pass rush.  I have never seen a quarterback experience that kind of pressure before.  I think they had to use their back up that day, but it definitely had nothing to do with him.  My doubt about HSU is on the o-line.  Anyone care to comment?

TU2698,  You are correct about last years UMHB-HSU game.  The UMHB pass rush and blitz was relentless and was the difference in the game.  I'm not sure Neal would have fared much better, but he is experienced and talented.  The HSU QBs were under intense pressure.  If the OL gives Neal time to throw, then things will probably be different.  In the playoffs 2 years ago, the defense pressured him the first half and caused a couple of INTs.  I'm really looking forward to this years game.

I was at the game you are talking about I assume from last year. And I don't know if many o-lines could have picked that up. UMHB brought 6-7 people every play and just caused so much havoc on the blitz. I don't know if the Cru coaching staff saw something in the film room and they went to an automatic hammer stunt or a fire what every you want to call it. I think Ricky Lopez had 2 sacks and several tackles for loss that game coming off the edge. I really think that the Def staff for the Cru game up with an awesome scheme that day and then one bad thing after another happened for the Cowboys that the quicksand theroy took over.

Has anyone seen UMHB's Coach Salazar.  Man that guy really likes meat on his grill
