Perhaps, fanatic, but I don't like to post something I'm not 100% sure of.

Besides, other regional columns have missed a week before without people getting all up in arms. I was really surprised by the emotional overreaction to this.
Pat - May have been an overreaction on my part. My original comment
was partially in jest. My apologies, but we were left pretty much in
the dark as to what was going on.

I was at the game you are talking about I assume from last year. And I don't know if many o-lines could have picked that up. UMHB brought 6-7 people every play and just caused so much havoc on the blitz. I don't know if the Cru coaching staff saw something in the film room and they went to an automatic hammer stunt or a fire what every you want to call it. I think Ricky Lopez had 2 sacks and several tackles for loss that game coming off the edge. I really think that the Def staff for the Cru game up with an awesome scheme that day and then one bad thing after another happened for the Cowboys that the quicksand theroy took over.

Billy B - If you were at the Wesley/UMHB game, you saw an O-line capable of handling the
UMHB pass rush scheme. The Wesley QB completed 6 passes to one receiver for
            239 yds.

HSUpt

This may be a little late, but in response to the question about HSU's o-line.....

True, last year wasn't pretty and UMHB brought a great pass rush, but from all the HSU games and scrimmages i have seen this year (which is all but the canceled LC game) the o-line has improved quite a bit from last year.  I also think J. Neal is probably more comfortable with adjusting the call and hitting some hot routes with a blitz in his face than Jordy was last year (Jordy is still a good QB).  Hopefully, everyone stays healthy this year so we can see a great matchup.

Indians

You heard it here first.  McM 28 UMHB 21.  The 5 year dynasty is over and we find out the talent is spread all over the conference, and once again HSU has most of it.

Bill McCabe

That would be quite a win for McM.  I anticipate UMHB controlling the ball with their running game, wearing down the McM defense, and swarming the ball on defense.

This would be the same McM team that struggled past AC (despite the score ... I was at there), lost to a Menlo team that hadn't won in a year, lost to MC (giving up 500 yards and nearly 400 in the air) ... ?

I'm not buying.  Good luck all the same.  It is a home game and that should help ... but UMHB never seems to be fazed by trips to Abilene.

BTW the new McM athletics web site is quite nice.  Kudos to the web team at McMurry.

Ron - A little harsh on McM aren't you

Menlo was ranked #210 preseason but is currently 2-2 with the two losses being less than a touchdown against a higher Division team and a D3 ranked #43 team. A very late arrival the night before the game (not an excuse) didn't help much either.

Austin College is also 2-2 and after a rough start (against 2 high quality ASC teams, wink wink) has played much better the last 2 games.

Mississippi College is the surprise 3-0 team (although I am not convinced so far, will see how good this weekend).  McM was with them until late, but the 3 to 0 turnover was too much.  MC got a lot of yards but McM stayed with them until the end.

McM had a big question mark at the start of this year, was last years improvement because of a big time QB transfer or because the program got better.  Results to date this year would suggest that the program got better (improvement still needed).  I am sure not picking McM against MHB this weekend.  We have not played them well over the last 5 years that I have been watching McM (that comment is an understatement).  We need to step up this year and show that we can play the hard nose football that MHB plays.

Ron Boerger

Harsh to the original poster, perhaps.  IMO UMHB >>> all three of the teams I mentioned.

Indians

Like Lee corso said that is why we play the game.  Saturday, we find out that the McM speed at the skill postions is too much for the young UMHB team...replay of Wesley game, and that the QB gets comfortable and steps into his own along with that young offense.  The McM defense stops the average UMHB Qb who is their weakness.  Mc is no joke either, and  while they come up short on Saturday, that will be thier only loss.  35-28 HSU.

Indians

Mc-if their QB did not get hurt they destroy the conference, as it is they have the one loss. It all comes down to QB play at this level and HSU has it.  Ask them what it is like not to have it.  The others are average at best.

That average QB you speak of as a freshman beat Trinity, HSU, W & J, and Mt. Union and almost beat Linfield in the Stagg Bowl in 04 and he was 9 & 2 last year beating HSU & Trinity before falling to Wesley. I am afraid my friend that in your efforts to support your team, you are losing contact with reality.
