And with Carnegie Mellon currently sitting at 5-0, the committee may be looking to fill a Pool C bid with a 9-1 Whitworth team or a 7-3 (with one loss outside of DIII) Linfield, depending on how the NWC shapes up.

Ralph, I think it was the UMHB defense that didn't give the McM offense a chance.  In the 4 years I've followed the Cru, this has usually been the case.
Bill, the McM play-by-play announcers gave me the impression that the QB was just "off" on Saturday.  He had had a very good day vs Mississippi College and looked good vs. LaCollege the week before.  The QB had handled the wind vs LaCollege but seemed to be bothered by it vs. UMHB.

Even hitting 40% of his passes (12 of 30) might have been a big difference.  UMHB was able to ignore every other aspect of the game.

I really think that UMHB has one speedy DB, Kubiak, but everyone else is suspect.

this is a game that has always had one team show up and the other team send in the JV squad.  I truely hope we can see both teams finally bring their A+ games and see who the better team really is.

Whoever has this knowledge -

UMHB Loses and ends up 8-2 with 2 in-region losses, do they make the playoffs???  I realize this is just speculation, but im just curious on the different opinions from the professionals.

Minni, I break down my impressions for Pool B here.

Pool C?  It is much too early!

Ralph, the secondary and linebackers can all run.

Still no reflections or comments from the Miss. Coll. posters. ???

UMHB has built its program around defense.  This year is no different.  Yes they are young, but they are athletic.  On offense, the Cru prides itself on ball control and chunk plays.

Welch, Rollins, and company will have to play well for the Cru to have a chance.

Look for special teams to play a big role in this game.

My opinion UMHB in a close one.

Bill McCabe

Ball control and great defense will usually bring home a Win.  Turnovers have been the difference in the last 5 games between the 2 teams.  I expect the same this Saturday.

UMHB has a great scheme like Bill said, it keeps you in games and when the talent is there you dominate, but this Sat.  HSU will win by 3 or 4 TD's.
Miss. College will win out this year, they are for real.  HSU has the best team they have had in 5 or 6 years.  Sul Ross will be they only team that gives HSU trouble. For some reason they always do when HSU is in an up year.

Bill McCabe

Indians, your logic makes no sense to me.   ;)

I'm saying a physical style more often than not prevails over a finesse style.  I'm taking UMHB in a game in which neither team scores 20 points.

Bill McCabe

I've been surprised the last few years how many points each team has scored in the game.  I think a low scoring game will favor UMHB, also.

billybaroo, that made me laugh out loud! ;D

I have a different take on this game.  I think it will be a shootout.  UMHB will have a hard time stopping the Cowboys passing attack.  The Cowboys will score some points.  However, I think that UMHB also scores a bunch.  The Cowboys although we have a good defense I think that we have been weak in the run defense especially between the tackles.  Well UMHB will take advantage of this.  So I look to have a high scoring game.

I see our good friends at the Dallas Morning News had the D3football.com Top 25 listed simply as the "Division III Poll."  Go get 'em, Pat!!   :D
