Weak Safety

On that note, HSU will begin a track program in 2008-2009.  Hopefully that will help recruit some players that also want to participate in track and field (and happen to be really fast or can throw the shot put a mile!).  Howard Payne and McMurry football programs have both benefitted from their track and field programs.

Ralph, you're probably right.  I guess I should throw the D3 part in there.  Hehe.
YOU KNOW IT!!!!

Josh- I think I agree to disagree with you on the corner point.  You are right in saying that covering the pass is the hardest the to do consistently in football.  However, I think it is all relative to what level you are playing at.

My dad told me you got to eat at Schoepfs after the game, what did you think about the good ol' Belton BBQ?

I thought it was pretty good--the atmosphere was really cool and the company was good, but I should have waited for some "fresh" sausage.  Something about the stuff that had been sitting in the smoker for a while and the fact that I'm getting older.....well, you get the idea, I'm sure.   :-X

Team speed has always been an important characteristic of UMHB football.  There are many teams that have either a player or a few players with speed, but I think that UMHB has speed as a unit. This speed is showcased particularly well on defense. Some teams look fast on film, but are not quite as fast in person.  For example, in 2004 preparing for the playoffs. We watched film on W&J.  On this film they looked very quick as a unit.  In person, no offense, but the team was not as fast as anticipated.  Speed and physicality will continue to be the backbone of UMHB football on both sides of the football. Look forward to continued success.

I know the UW-whitewater and UMHB game is a few weeks away, but since this may be the only other game that I am able to attend this year, I was wondering if anyone had seen UW-whitewater play?  Strong points? Big returners? Thanks

The usual...most talent-laden 1-5 team in the country by my listening to the McMurry game.

Ralph,  what is going on with them?  I see lots of names from when they won the conference and beat Trinity.  Are there problems in the team?

I don't know.  Van Cleave gave up 3 INT's. It was their rushing game that we couldn't stop.

They have a huge game this week against La Cross who is ranked 6th. They put up like 75 points in there first game. But since then they haven't beaten anybody that bad but they have beaten everybody. And from what I hear have been pretty impressive in doing so as well. I just hope the Cru takes care of business until that game. But I am not going to lie and say that I am not looking foward to the Justin Beaver vs. Josh Kubiak and who is going to win that hit battle.

Hey Pat is there anyway that game could be put on TV. I mean that is a pretty big game with the last two national runners up. Maybe ESPN 8 the Ocho

Abilene local televsion has televised HSU and McM event before.

How about KCEN or KWTX?

Also, local access cable for Temple and Belton has time available for community events as a third option.

Ralph, great idea.  Now how does this happen?

The two main things I noticed with ETBU is that their defense is still very good and their offense can't take advantage of great opportunities that the defense gives them.  The defense set them up with many good opportunities against us, but the offense couldn't cash in.  Also the offense turns the ball over quite a bit.  But they have tons of talent and could be a tough team to face if they ever put it all together.  Now of course, I'd like to think that our defense played a role in the turnovers, but by the looks of their other games, they turned it over just as much, so can't take too much credit there.  What does anyone know about TLU?

Bill, someone in Belton would need to figure that one out.  Abilene does such a great job with their local college sports that they probably already have the wheels greased and just do it.
