Well after seeing some of my fellow players posting on here I thought I would join the party.  Congrats to UMHB on there whipping of La. College.  The cru look to be building momentum.  Hopefully this will grow into another deep playoff run.

I sure hope so!!!  They have continued to improved since that first week up in my neck of the woods.  Roocru, if you see this, how was your stint at broadcasting the game?  I just know you were good at it!!  I can't imagine that you wouldn't be good at anything you chose to do.

Proudmcmdad and finkle89, it was good to see you yesterday.  I hope the drive home was good.

dballa, I thought that both teams played like the "big middle" of the ASC.  With SRSU showing some signs of life, the bottom has gotten better and the middle is now more confused.  McMurry did what they needed to do.  I was frustated with McM's blocked extra point on the first score and HPU's scoring drive at the end of the first half, but HPU did not stop McMurry on the last 2 drives of the game.  With SRSU's win over TLU, we have a big middle 7, and no real "dogs".

The UMHB offense has come a long way since the CN game. They utilized the pass exceptionally well against LC. While I know the CRU is committed to running the ball, I like it when they open it up just a bit and keep the defense on its heels. Welch can deliever the ball and the receivers look more than capable. Also, I was told that one of the wide-outs, Cumby, can fly. Someone close to the program told me that Cumby has the potential to be better than P.J. Williams.

GO CRU!

Toby,

Sorry I just now saw your earlier post... by now you know the final score was 56-7. Which was the score with about 9 minutes left in the 3rd quarter when Coach Fred called off the dogs.

Dr. Turner: Made it home safe. Always a pleasure to see you again; again congratulations on your recognition this weekend. Eric

Great win by McMurry Football this weekend at homecoming.  Strange thing happened during halftime though.  My son and I were watching from the end zone and this older gentleman was escorted on the field by a couple of attractive coeds.  Didin't recognize the guy from so far away but he sure had a big grin on his face.  A gentle 30 mph breeze was blowing from the south so it was hard to hear what the announcer was saying, but I thought I heard that since McM was such a small school and nobody from McM ever did much after they graduated, that it was hard to recognize any alumni but since it was homecoming they had to name someone.

Then the announcer went on about 20 minutes about everything this guy had done, delayed the 2nd half kickoff about 10 minutes he bragged about the guy so much.  So I just wanted to give a shout out to McM's and D3Football's own:

Dballa, I have to disagree with you on this one.  McM deserved the win, scoring twice in the last 5 minutes.  HPU and McM looked to be evenly matched with McM taking advantage of the wind to its back in the 4th quarter.

HPU has had a disappointing season this season with many (including me) expecting them to continue improving and showing the top 2 in the conference that there was someone new to contend with (you can substitute TLU for HPU in the first word on the paragraph, also).

HPU and TLU appear to have stepped back this year and McM, SRSU, MC and LC have all improved and appear to be competitive with anybody else in the conference.  ETBU continues to puzzle me and they appear to have talent but can't put it together on the field.

Yes, Ralph...it is always nice to be recognized by your college!

So Congratulations...Ralph Turner!  We (all) appreciate the time and effort you put in to this message board also.  You're just a font of knowledge and statistical data that is unmatched!

Thanks for all you do!

:-[  Thanks proud!  "Older gentleman?"  :D :D :D

Except in my mind's eye, I am still that 5'10" 160 lbs 6.5% body fat 4:32.6 miler former high school football player with a full head of brown hair running around the old 6-lane cinder track encircling an old Bermuda grass field at "Indian" Stadium who is very grateful for the parents that loved me and the chances that McMurry had given me to make something of the talents that God gave me.

Ralph, Congratulations on a well deserved honor.  Hope I can meet you in person someday.

SR97

Any thoughts on the SRSU-McMurry game this week?  Anyone from McMurry making the trip to Alpine?  I personally think the Lobos should win, but who knows by how much.  Depends on which defense shows up.  The way they played against TLU, it could be a long day for McMurry.  Should be a good game though.  Coach Wright has these players believing in themselves and in the idea that they can play with anyone in the conference if the O and D show up on the same day.

Ralph Turner

I think that Coach Wright has the "SRSU mind" back in gear.  He has them believing in themselves.  Coach Davalos did the same thing in basketball.  There is no doubt that SRSU has the talent.  Your QB, Austin Davidson, and backs/receivers are quite good.  TJ Barber is a real gamebreaker and was one of my fantasy backs last year on kid's fantasy football league!

SRSU has momentum and a Homecoming game this week.  I haven't decided what to predict on the McM game.  McM played a good game last week. I won't play with your heads and say that SRSU is probably gonna beat McM by 3 TD's, but I wouldn't be surprised with any outcome.  For McMurry's sake, I hope that SRSU is looking forward to HSU!

At 7-1 in region, they have a very outside chance at a Pool C bid.
