Lets get it started all ready a, who would have thought in August, play-off match-up with SRSU vs. HSU and a game that any D3 fan has been looking foward to UMHB vs Whitewater. Let's get the predictions and discussions going. I think that HSU wins and I have a feeling it is going to be big just to much big game experience for the Cowboys nothing against Sul Ross. I just think it is close until half way through the 2nd qtr then Neal pulls the Cowboys away. As for one of the marque (sp?) match-ups of the season, Whitewater at UMHB, I would have loved to have seen Justin Beaver vs. Josh Kubiak, Jerrell Freeman, and the Crusader rush defense, but you still get to see a great rushing team vs a great rush defense. I just think that a good defense beats a good offense but then again I thought that last year and Welsey through a wrench in that theory. This year though I think the Cru is a little better than the team that played against Welsey so I am going to say Crusaders 28 Whitewater 17. What are some other opinions?

Hope your secondary's up to being tested. This poster's take is Whitewater in a tight one, 31-28.

Their secondary already has been tested by HSU.  They passed the test holding the Cowboys to 16 points.

And McMurry with an All-American (2006 NCAA Outdoors) Sprinter, Bert Green.

I think that the UMHB front 7 is the best that UWW has seen this year.  That is what made the difference against McMurry.

Ralph,

Here's a stat update to make you go :o and show just how good the front seven are:

Net rushing yds allowed through 7 games . . . 115!  That's .6 yds/carry  16.4 yds/game
And have allowed only 2 rushing tds
68 tfl for -355 yds
30 sacks for -244 yds

My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

In last week's national ranking of total pass offense:
#5     Hardin-Simmons     301.2
#13    Mississippi Col.      277.7
#21    Louisiana Col.       265.6
#24    Howard Payne        251.3
#62    UW Whitewater    192.0
Anything that you ardently desire, vividly imagine, totally believe and enthusiastically pursue will inevitably come to pass !!!

You sold me. I'll change my tune and say Whitewater's unbeaten run ends, 24-21.

This time, though, as the song goes, "That's my story and I'm sssssticking to it!

WLCALUM83, I hope you are right.   ;) I just hope it is a great game and we have good weather.

I saw the past records on D3 football for UMHB and since the 2000 season they have a 52-5 record in the ASC.  Incredible.

mhb8904, have you thought about helping with recruiting?   :D

6 Days to go hope the game lives up to the hype and I think I am speaking for the Crusader Defense when I say as The Rock would

So we have a game Saturday between SRSU and HSU that actually means something.  What are the preliminary thoughts?  I just hope Sul Ross brings their A game.

HSU will score some points and that is for sure.  SR I think also has a nice offense so really this game will come down to how well these defenses play.

HSU can not afford to keep committing all these penalties.  Although I think the officiating was lacking against HPU.  The Cowboys seemed focused.  They are taking this one game at a time and I'm sure they will not overlook Sul Ross.  This game has very big implications.  Of course they all do to HSU trying to make the dance.  But Sul Ross has a vested interest in this game also to try and get a playoff spot.

Should be an exciting game.

Toby Taff

I think HSU beat SRSU.  I think it will be a good game. I'll be there on the visitor's side (as always) to see the show so I hope it's a good one, but I think the HSU D can keep SRSU's scoring down.  I guess we'll see Saturday.  Playoffs on the line boys

Sully did not commit a single turnover against McMurry.  That is the effort that it will take.  You jumped on McMurry with that quick TD pass and then put us away early in the 3rd quarter.

I think that you have an outside chance.   The HSU seniors were tri-champs when they were freshmen and outright ASC champions in 2004*.   HSU players have played numerous "big" games.  This is your first.  In fact the last SRSU playoff game was in 1982, probably before any current SRSU player was born.

Listen to Coach Wright and do what he says.  I like the old saying, "Act like you have been therefore!" Take that seriously!

I am happy for y'all.  It has been a long time since you have been this close to the throne room.

Travel safely.

(*Offline tip-of-the-hat to a friend for the correction.  My bad!  HSU got the bye that year. UMHB, as a Pool C bid, won on the road in Abilene in the second round after beating Trinity on the road in the first round.)

Yep!  Through 2005 UMHB and HSU were just about even.

UMHB  46-5
HSU  48-5

Now:
UMHB 52-5
HSU 51-6

I believe head-to-head it is 5-5.

So you owe us one!   ;D  Great competition!  But, we STILL like to beat McMurry! ;)

UMHB v Whitewater is going to be a great game.  I think that both teams are very good and hitting their respective strides.  Hopefully it will be another great game played on Tiger field in Belton.  The Cru defense is very impressive this year, and I look forward to seeing what they can do against a #2 team.  This is a great opportunity to bring recognition to both UMHB and the ASC.  I look forward to seeing the Cru win again.  I will be coming to the game and this time I am bringing some fans with me to enjoy a great football game.  I won't make a guess at the score, but I will say that I expect the Cru to come out swinging and win a great match up.
Go Cru!
