crualum75,

Ditto on your post. I will be making the trek from Central Louisiana. I am anticipating a great game.

Is the UMHB game at 1:00 or 2:00?

Kelly Boggs

According to the UMHB web site the game is scheduled for 1:00 pm.

HSU is no doubt a great team that deserves national recognition.  The question that I have is does anyone think that the young SRSU team has a chance on Saturday?  It seems that they keep finding ways to beat ASC teams.  After an awakening given by the Mighty Crusaders, they have bounced back to win 4 in a row.  Their defence has looked very solid in the last 2 games and the team has put up 30+ points in their last 3 outings.  I just want to know what people think the outcome will be.

BarSRBar903,  only if they can stop Neal and score 30 points.  You need to pressure him and get 2 or 3 picks.  Tall challenge.

Bill,
according to both UMHB and Whitewaters athletic websites the game is starting at 1:00.  According to the weather channel it will be a perfect day for football on Saturday in Belton.

HI:   80
Low: 52
Sunny and only a 10% chance of precipitation.
Of course in Texas this could always change by the end of the week.  Looking forward to seeing a great game on a beautiful day.

I think the stadium should be packed out on Saturday for the big game in Belton.  Anybody want to make a guess at the attendance for the game?

SRSU is much improved but have yet to play anyone of consequence. Your four wins are against teams that are a combined 7-15 in ASC play.  In terms of talent, HSU is much closer to UMHB than it is TLU.

Your best chance is to try and rattle Jordan Neal, but that's easier said than done.  UMHB got him out of his comfort zone in the second half of that game and it really showed.   I don't know if you can exert the pressure and coverage that the Crusaders did.  If not, it will be a long day for the Lobos.

If SRSU improves as much next year as it has this, though, it will be able to compete for the championship before long.  You got my 10th place vote in the Fan Poll this week, and if anyone had said I'd be voting for Sul Ross this season, I'd have told them to get their head examined.  Keep up the good work and good luck this weekend!

No guess on the size of the crowd, but I am calling my UMHB contact today to insure I have a good seat.

crualum75, we are going to the UMHB game and then up to Waco for the A&M-Baylor game.  The 1:00 start really helps.

My son is in Belton today and he better get our tickets.  If you read this, don't forget.   ;)

Its never an automatic win on a saturday, especially when you play a team that has been playing with a lot of heart and has really got the train going forward, but I dont see HSU losing.  Im sorry, the guys are just extrememly determined this year.  The defense is still a little ticked off about the umhb game and J Neal is lights out now too.  They are real determined to get the shot at UMHB again.  We shall see this weekend but I see the cowboys dominating.  Quin and J Green should get things going on the ground then it will open things up for Jordan to have his kind of game.  Cowboys win big, making a statement this weekend.

UMHB & HSU seem to feed off of each other. I believe that the regular season loss to HSU in 04 sparked the UMHB run to the Stagg Bowl. It it possible that the loss to UMHB in Belton this year could be the spark that lights up a playoff run for the Cowboys!! UMHB/Whitewater is a big game, but for playoff implications HSU/SRSU is the BIG game.

Not only the school but the city of Belton needs to hype this game up the number 2 and number 6 team in the nation playing each other. Anybody that lives in the Belton-Temple-Killeen area that likes football needs to attend. Try to Purple out Tiger Statium and the Couch Cru needs to recuit and have the biggest Cru ever. Lets get a Texas sized home field advantage going announce the game all week on local radio stations get the local news to talk about it all week. (And while I am saying this I don't live in Belton area) They might already be doing this if they are then that is awesome keep it up and try to sell out the home side.

While I wouldn't want to make any ASC fans uncomfortable at the game in Belton this weekend, I think the best homefield advantage could be for the temperature to be about 95 degrees with 80% humidity!!  I am pretty sure it is fairly cold up in Wisconsin right now and has been for a few weeks.
