Bill, I dont see that being a problem.  Unfortunately this crazy commitee will make us play in the second round and beat the hell out of each other.  Maybe one year they will finally see the light and seperate us into different brackets and make us play in the semifinals.  Oh the thought of that gives me goosebumps!!!!

Gratuitous Cheap Shot to follow...

The Committee did separate the 2 teams, in 2001! :-\

And both lost in the first round! >:(

Sour taste in the mouth this week.  Its time for a little payback.

Mebbe so. Yet perhaps the Bulldogs are still looking for full "payback" for that 80-points-plus demolition several years ago at the hands of the Cowboys ....  ;)

Why not hand them another 80 point defeat for last year.  It will be in Seguin and the Cowboys will not have the replacements they would if the game was in Abilene.  J Neal and the offense may play deep into the third quarter this week because of the lack of players traveling.   ;)

Say what? Is it a case of "poor HSU"? And do I detect a faint whiff of "sour grapes" for last season's loss to TLU?  :P (Kindly advise soonest, if not sooner.  :D)

No not a case of poor HSU just a case of as a Cowboy you learn to hate losing and it leaves a 'sour grapes" taste in your mouth.  I mean arent you suppose to want to win them all??  If the team now wouldnt want to avenge last seasons loss then something is terribly wrong with them.

Toby Taff

Minni,

I'd say one of the best defensive players for HSU is JNeal's offense.  The O scores enough that teams are forced to throw, and there is nothing wrong with HSU's defensive backfield.  The biggest weakness for HSU is the interior of the defensive line.  Every team I've seen HSU play this season has had success up the middle, but most of them don't have the horses to sustain it and keep in the game.  MHB did and got the win, and some teams HSU may play deep in the playoffs will have the running game that can hurt HSU.  HSU's Offense can hang with anyone and in a shootout, I don't pick against them, but a strong running team that can keep the o off the field will cause some problems.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Ralph -- OK, here's another gratuitous cheap shot:
In 2001 both teams beat McM and McM has never made the D3 playoffs! ;D
Excuse me, that's 2 shots. ::)
Not really a bad dog. Just misunderstood!

minni

I have nothing to go against that other than to say that the interior needs to step it up and make things bounce outside to the linebackers and the middle linebacker needs to step up his play also.  Its been a quiet year for him.  He had some pretty big shoes to fulfill at that position, two great (all-american) middle linebackers in Jared Sanderson and Brent Gailey.  I think the interior is coming around.  Ive got faith in Chris Jones.  He has made several tackels inside, the problem is he cant do it all alone, he needs some help.  Teams are learning about Reggie on the outside so others are going to have to step up and play.

Bill McCabe

Ralph, thanks for bringing us back to reality.  Your comment about 2001 made me laugh.

Warren Thompson

OK, minni. But don't get overly excited and come down with a terminal case of the fantods. After all, football, even in Texas, is but a game, isn't it?  ;)

Bill McCabe

Warren, sometimes football in Texas is a religion.

As a native San Antonian, yes, I'm aware of that. Yet, I often wonder which deity is being worshipped on the field (maybe the Aztec rain god who demands human sacrifice?).  ;)

Bill McCabe

Warren, there are many:  Friday night, Saturday and even Sunday (after worship of course) when the Cowboys are playing well.

Ah! But when the Cowboys are doing a swan-dive, which deity do the Dallas folks worship? Or do they merely curse "St. Jones" or "demi-god Tuna"?  ;D

Bill McCabe

I gave up on the Cowboys when they fired Tom Landry.  The local CBS affiliate here in San Antonio is not carrying the Texans any longer.  Wow!
