UWW rolled big today... no hangover for them.

UMHB's nemesis in the Stagg, Linfield, is in a dog fight with Whitworth and are tied 10-10 with the Pirates with a couple of minutes left in the first half.

Hello all,

Today was the first day I've logged into d3sports.com forum. I'm part of a radio broadcast team for Louisiana College but I didn't make the 17 hour drive to Alpine, TX ... I stayed back and fed scores to our play by play guy via SMS text message. Thanks for the updates. By reading your messages and logging into Mississippi College's webcast I have complied the fillowing final scores for November 4, 2006:

Hardin-Simmons 35 @ Texas Lutheran 7 FINAL
Louisiana College 35 @ Sul Ross State 28 4th FINAL
Mary Hardin-Baylor 33 @ East Texas Baptist 28 FINAL
Mississippi College 15 @ Howard Payne 30 FINAL

Thanks for y'all's help!

Sincerely,
Nathan

Granted the UMHB performance today was not stellar (what happend to the Purple CRUsh "D")... but on the upside, they did what they had to do to win. Which is something they failed to do against CNU and UWW.

HPU played a good game today.  Senior day at HPU, about 7 seniors on the team.  I hadn't realized HPU was that young.  Lots of underclassmen are getting playing time.

one more big HSU win and I dont think the commitee can keep us out.  I think things are starting to come together for us.  Sounded like the HSU defense came to play.  Seven sacks, allowing seven point (scored with a 1:22 on the clock), and only giving up 256 yards.  We gotta get rid of the penalties though.  Big home game this weekend.  Just keep things rolling.

Oh and by the way there will be no sliting of the wrist by this Cowboy fan.

While the UMHB defense was apparently not up to its normal standards, the offense produced 446 yards, 272 on the ground.  Josh Welch was 12-16 passing for 174 yards and 3 TDs.  If the offense can maintain this type of production and the defense plays its normal dominating game, look out for the Cru in the playoffs.  Welch's passing can take a lot of pressure off of the running game and when that happens the Cru can control the ball. That's the formula that has worked over and over.

I'm with you Bill. The Purple CRUsh defense got its one bad game of the season out of its system. The offense came through in the clutch. Now UMHB needs to take care of business against HPU and tune up for the playoffs. The second season starts in two weeks.

Just looking at the new D3 Top 25.....somebody answer me this???

Why is Linfield still ranked in the Top 25?  How can a team that has 3 losses, even though 1 is to a D2 school, still be ranked like they are?  Apparently, their legacy is the only reason they are there.  Anyway, just wondering.

Ron Boerger

Throw out the D2 loss since it is meaningless in terms of a D3 poll.  Then ask why UMHB is ranked #6 with the same number of losses in D3 play?   They lost to the #2 team in the country but kept it close.  They lost to CNU who isn't in anyone's top 25.  Yet ... #6.

Similarly, Linfield lost to #9 Whitworth but kept it close.  They lost to #7 HSU at HSU.  The pollsters did for Linfield this week exactly what they did for UMHB last week, kept them the same spot in the rankings for losing a close game the rankings said they should have lost.

Well, I guess the point is...regardless of who they played, they still lost!!!  Same goes for UMHB.....

It's tough, UMHB loses to UWW and CNU, but beat HSU.....HSU loses only to UMHB.....very tough call when it comes to ranking them.....strictly on wins/losses....HSU should be ranked higher......

I don't know....I just keep flip-flopping on this!!!   ;D

+1 Ron!

I agree completely.  UMHB is given credit for a very close loss on the road (fly-in) 1st game in the second week of the season.

We have covered that.

They hold the #2 team's offense scoreless.

I say that we have some smart voters!
