Yes in my opinion UMHB has been teh team to beat. They have owned HSu the past two-four years and i hate to say it they just straight up out coach hsu sometimes... but i believe that this year HSU will do it big. There is no buddy ball going around on offense and with a new linebacker coach and scheme the defense will surely be slapping some heads.

GO COWBOYS!

I don't hate to say it, and will say it:  when it comes to college kids, Coach Fred would outcoach Jimmie in ping pong!  Now, if we're dealing with high school football, that might be a different story, as Jimmie had a tremendous career as a high school coach, at all levels.  IMHO, Coach Fred's only weakness seems to be his unyielding refusal to try and throw the football, except when they have to.  Other than that, UMHB outcoaches HSU every time, and that's a hard pill for me to swallow, because in addition to all my other wonderful attributes, I'm an alum of H-S U! ;D

He wasn't trying to say that, i don't think. It's just every year HSU has all these great Juco transfers, and they are always the "best" team in the ASC. So most HSU fans say. Then UMHB beats the crap out of them and it's always some controversial call or hurt player that causes it. I was just wondering if this year UMHB was going to get a little respect. The 4 years I played HSU, 4 years that we beat HSU, 4 years that I got rings, and 3 of which they didn't, we didn't get any respect what so ever. It was always some lame excuse why we won and they lost. No matter what the score was. Just wondering if anything changed on this board at all.
Walking on thin ice cuz someone lost......again.

yessir.....

Come on....he is telling everybody what he is seeing about the upcoming season....never once mentioned that HSU is the team to beat.  Like I said before, the early pre-season polls are picking UMHB....deservedly so!!!

UMHB has got HSU's number, no doubt about it!!!  But don't give me this baloney that UMHB does not get any respect.....remember, you played for the national championship a couple of years ago.....you've beat some damn good teams along the way......if that is not respect, then I do not know what is......

+1 kickhoe, for responding to yessir's "laughable" "we don't get no respect" comment concerning UMHB's football program.

Lindys preseason came out
1.  Mt Union
2.  UMHB
3.  UWW

Seems like some pretty good respect to me!   ;)

Of course, there are enough flaws in their top 25 rankings to cast a shadow over the list.  Magazines need to sell copies, afterall.  But respect, none the less.

I just read this on the SI website.  Any ideas if the site will change after the 2009 game?

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- The Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl, the NCAA's Division III football championship game, will remain in Salem, Va., at least through 2009.

The Division III Football Committee said Thursday the Stagg Bowl would return to Salem Stadium, its home the past 15 years.

"The City of Salem and the Stagg Bowl have become synonymous as the last stop on the road to a Division III football championship," said Wayne Burrow, the NCAA's director of championships. "The city and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference have displayed the ability to host and administer a first-class bowl game."

This year's game will be played on Dec. 15. The 2008 game will be on Dec. 20, and the 2009 game will be played on Dec. 19.

Mount Union beat Wisconsin-Whitewater 35-16 in last year's Stagg Bowl.

It is only the middle of June and the competitive juices are already heating up.   :D Can't wait for the season to get here and the HSU-UMHB game.  Hopefully, we will get 2 teams into the playoffs again, without having to meet in the first round.
