Well here we go again.  TLU rebuilding for the third time in 9 years.  I am waiting to see what Coach Parker has up his sleeve after having 400 plus yards forced on his defense. The first coach TLU had did not have the drive that coach Mueller had and hopefully Coach Parker will have.  Coach Fred should be the standard schools look to when searching for a new head football coach.  I teach in Belton which makes it even more frustrating to see a team like UMHB experience so much success while we have had 3 coaches in 9 years.  UMHB is a class act and I give them a lot of ribbing but in the end they are THE premier team in the ASC and I pray TLU will become that type of team.

I'll be in Belton tonight for the game.  i'm not eaving Abilene until 3 so it will be tight but if anyone is coming let me know, I'd love to meet some of you.   Forgive me if I smell of pizza though, I'm leaving directly from work.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

mhb8904,

I wish I could be there. However, my son is playing on his varsity team this season (he's a sophmore) so we won't make too many games in Belton this year (his team has a "practice" on Saturday monrings - watch film, light work out, etc...). We plan on taking in the MC game (at Clinton, Miss.) and, providing UMHB makes the post season, as many playoff games as possible. Of course, that could all change if my son's team makes the playoffs.

I will be listening to tonight's game via the 'net. I am going to take in the first half of Millsaps vs. Louisiana College and then head home to root, long distance, for the CRU.

Cheer enough for the both of us.

Looking forward  to the CRU's game tonight.  I will be heading down after we get thru watching film, getting ready for next weeks game.

ANy other FB alumni heading to the game???

Go CRUSADER!!!

To note of comparing UMHB and Mount Union. Lets remember that Mount Union is not a "Young Program".  I'm not sure when their program started, but i know some of their records date back to 1930, therefore they've been around for a while.  Whereas, UMHB Football, hasn't.  As it has been explained to me before, top Ohio athletes in Ohio either go to Ohio State or Mount Union. They don't have quite the competition for athletes as Texas has.  There is several elite D1 schools within a 4 hour drive from Belton, as well as D1AA, D2, D3. So there is alot of people picking out of the pool. Now i'm not saying Mount has better athletes than UMHB.  But with their history i'm sure they don't have a problem finding elite athletes. Road to the Championship starts today, GO CRU!!

I am sure some of the Ohio talent goes to the other Division I-A schools in Ohio.

Everyone in this room know this -- you're preaching to the choir, though it kind of sounds like excuses. :)

P.S. I read a comment about HSU running the option on 4th and 10. I wonder what team they got that from.............I think i have an idea. LOL  There's only enough room for one UMHB in this conference, so I think they should try a different game plan.

Might I propose Wesley's game plan?

fatboy

Don't think you need to go there Weak Safety being the HSU has not had the opportunity since 2000 to be that deep in the play-offs.  Just focus on a game plane that can beat UMHB, only done that once 1 out of the last 7 times.  Wesley a little below the belt, and I felt t had to respond.

Weak Safety

I'm sorry.  I didn't realize my post said, "HSU is better than UMHB."

HSU hasn't been able to beat UMHB.  UMHB hasn't been able to beat Wesley.  Those are the facts.

crualum90 I got your back man.  For those that havent lived what Cru football is all about then you have no idea.  That coaching staff is top notch both on and off the field.  Men with the highest character that serve as the best role models that a college player could ever hope for.

Cru 39 you need to start backing your boys.  You know what kind of program that is being run in Belton.

Cru90 i thank you for your honest and completly truthful response.  Ralph get a clue!

GO CRU!

WHen it comes to Mount Union vs. UMHB. I don't have to make excuses. I have the ring that proves who won that matchup. My response was concerning the overall programs, not necessarily just the on the field play. It's hard to compare a program that has been around since before 1930 and a program that just had it's 10 year anniversary. That was my comparison. Ask any football fan in America who Mount Union is and they've probably heard of them. Ask anyone if the know who UMHB is and there gonna say....."Yeah I know who Baylor is....." Mount's program has been established for some time now, that was my point. Give UMHB another 30 years and we'll see how many championship games they have under their belt. So you can keep your "making excuses" comment for another purple team in this conference.  As far as the Wesley comment............I don't know who your team is, i know it's not UMHB, but I dont think anyone in this conference can say anything to UMHB about loses in the regular season or in the playoffs. Atleast we (and ETBU)have some wins in the playoffs in the past 5 years, thats more than you can say for anybody else in the conference. I guess your next shot is going to be about Linfield in the National Championship game played on ESPN. Guess you'll go there now, since you have very few other things to use against UMHB.

Feel better? Share your feelings with the group!

It's just funny to me how so many people have "trash" to talk, when UMHB's been taking out the trash in this conference for a long time now.  41-6, 3-Conference championships, National Championship appearance, Giving the great MU one of their 4 loses in last 8 years, and beating HSU everytime it counted. I don't have anything to hang my head about.......

Whoa!  Yessir, just calm down.  Everything is going to be alright.  Why do you always bring HSU in to your discussions?  Sure, UMHB has done great during the BRIEF history of football.  But HSU has won that many or more ASC championships and I say that without even checking the record books.  And I hardly think a 6-5 record against HSU as some kind of "dominance"...like you keep implying.  (And of course, you did say, "when it counted"...when does it NOT count?)   ;D

Anyway, here is for a good and fun season.  Let's all enjoy it!

Down with the purple...UP with the Gold!   Gold Cowboys, that is!.  I don't know who the Cowboys are  playing this weekend (today), but I'm sure they will  win!

Cheers, everybody!  Good luck, HSU!
