I think the reason that Mr. Daniels ended up at UMHB is pretty obvious.

Braxton Harris recruited him.

I have watched a lot of college football teams in person over the past 4 years.  That includes teams from DI (North Texas v. OU most recently), DIAA Sam Houston to name one that I will watch again in three weeks at OSU, tons of DII like Midwestern State, Tarleton, Texas A&M Kingsville, Southeastern Oklahoma, ACU -- really the entire Lone Star Conference and then I have watched every team from the ASC.

It would be my opinion that Mary Hardin Baylor could give every single team I have watched a heck of a game (maybe with the exception of OU).  UMHB would beat most of those teams.  I think the same can be said of HSU.  There are some quality athletes and quality coaches at the D3 level in this part of the country to take from Josh.

I'm also of the opinion that UMHB's old #5 was a hell of a player and as a HSU fan I'm glad to see that he graduated because he should be under arrest for stealing the 1st game between the two last year.  I say that jokingly because I know that it was a total team effort but he made a huge impact on that particular game.

Great atheltes live in D3 no doubt!

Now go Cowboys and get yourself together!

One more note -- last year at the 1st meeting between HSU and the Cru -- Between plays just prior to the snaps, I could not even hear my radio with ear buds in because it was so loud.  Am I the only one that noticed this?  I'm curious how loud it was on the field.  I can not imagine calling plays and not be able to hear anything.

Speaks volumes (haha) for both sets of fans at that game.

yessir, I agree with a lot of what you said.

What division you play in college can (not always) push you to your full potential.  Some might agree that a Div. I, 6'5 300 lbs lineman at full potential is better than a Div. III, 5'11 250 lbs lineman.

I know this is total stereotyping and there are many Div. I size linemen playing in Div. III, but I think that across the board we can all say this is true.
YOU KNOW IT!!!!

Yessir, i agree 100 percent with what you said. Div I almost always goes by the numbers, size and speed, with weight being something they can add or subtract. The percentages pay off for them most of the time, however, it can backfire on the recruiter. A good friend of mine was at BYU (now at Colorado as ast. coach) recruited 3 fellows from Dallas, based wholly on their numbers, as was surprised when their character did not fit in at BYU! So, there are many, many quality boys who are overlooked because of height.
Another thing is their highschool coach. My son's coach had a Div. I mentality, and really didn't spend much time an any calls from Div. II or III, or NAIA.
So, that being said, the talent is there in Div III, even if the height isn't.

how good was UMHB's #5 as a Safety? I think there are some(I have heard) who didnt think too much of him, and that the BARK  of the press was louder than the BITE of the player. He was, however, very good on special teams. But, hey he has a number of Rings to prove how good he was, I guess.
I simply do not beleive the UHMB has better players than everyone else in the conference. there are many schools in the conference who have players who are as good as UMHB. THE DIFFENCE IN UMHB IS THE EMOTIONAL DOMINANCE AND SUPERIORITY THAT IS BREAD IN TO THEM BY THAT SYSTEM. I think UMHB has good kids, and good athletes. The ones who dont buy in to the MACHO system, a PRIDE system, JUST GET TO LEAVE THE PROGRAM. (I think my observations could be seen as a positive,bc that is how I mean it. I do not mean to knock the Ability of the Kids. I just think they are hardworking, hardbelieving members of a system.)

used2b,  Josh, #5, was the best player in the ASC.  UMHB has a lot of very talented players, many more than most of the other teams.

This is disappointing, but unfortunately, it's not the first time I've heard it. Sometimes it seems HS coaches are only willing to help their kids get into a college program that will pad the coach's resume.

Best, maybe, maybe not.  Top 5, no doubt.  I don't think I said anything that would or could have been taken otherwise, though, Bill.  Or maybe you're referring to the Josh that wore #5 in your post and not me???  Sorry for my confusion, here.  ???

Sorry Josh B, I meant the Josh #5.  If there were 4 better players than him, I would be surprised.  He .will be a difficult player to replace

Josh Bowerman

That's cool, Bill.  I just wasn't sure to whom you were referring.

I think it's really hard to single out one player as being the "best" in the entire conference, simply because the skill sets required to be outstanding at each position are so different.
