UMHB by 3 TD's.  Defense and ground game too much for HSU.

WE DONT RUN THE SCORE UP.  THE TWOS NEED WORK IN CASE A STARTER GOES DOWN.  IF YOU CANT REALIZE THAT THEN GET A BETTER TEAM!

Hey, hotshot.  I'm not going to speak for everybody, but I'm pretty sure I heard you the first time.

Awfully hard to forget when somebody is being as rude as you are.

Ralph, I think a rating of 113.0 is pretty good.  I saw UMHB against TLU and I thought Welch threw the ball as well as I've seen him in his 4 years.  Oliver made and incredible catch for a TD.  It makes a QB look even better when they have good receivers.

I still think the key to this weeks game is being able to run the ball and putting pressure on the HSU QB.  It has worked well the past few years.  I haven't seen HSU's QBs this year, but Neal had a difficult time with the pressure and I thought he was the best QB UMHB played.

Fellows,
With HSU beating MC, MC would have to win out to get an at-large bid. HSU will obviously have to win out to get a bid. UMHB could lose and get an at large. If these things do not happen, as it appears they won't, it looks like the ol' ASC stands to only get UMHB in. Are my observations correct in you all's book too?

Ron Boerger

Yep.  7-3's not going to get in no matter who you lose to (HSU with any loss), and 8-2 MC, even with a QW against Millsaps, would need an awful lot of one-loss teams to fall by the wayside.

We have a new columnist and column this week for Around the South ... Wes Anderson, former broadcaster for DePauw's WGRE-FM and currently employed by WTHR-TV in Indianapolis.  Welcome Wes, and good job!

Glad to see that we will have an Around The Region this week.

Just to let everyone know the single season receiving touchdown record is 11 for UMHB by P.J. Williams in 2004. With 7 by Oliver already, its hard to imagine him not breaking the record at some point in the season, man I wish we could have found him earlier.

D-III QB Passing Efficiency

Welch does not have enough attempts per game to qualify for the NCAA stats  (15 passes per game.)

#50 in D3 is 137.6 points.

Remember that the NCAA doesn't truncate the top or the bottom of Passing Efficiency.  :)

If Welch has to throw more than 15 times against HSU, then they will have done a good job of stopping the run.  That would not be a good thing for UMHB, I think.

(If HSU can handle the defensive pressure, they have a great chance.  UMHB's speed has been difficult for them the past few games.  If HSU can stop UMHB's running game, then they have a chance)
You're right! But the key word in that statement is IF!!!I don't think they can stop them at all. Honestly, I don't think the db's or the defense is smart enough to play against UMHB. We all all know (if you follow UMHB vs HSU games) that UMHB will throw a trick play in from time to time to take the momentum from HSU! This year they may can spread UMHB out and score, but stopping them will be a huge problem for HSU! A great game early, but UMHB i believe will wear and tear them!HSU doesn't have the bedt like last year and in 04! And the speed for HSU is way down! Last year first game was special teams. HSU had a great defensive game plan! UMHB out played them in special teams with 35 running the muff punt back to the 3. Thrasher breaking long kickoffs. The block field goal. Great programs will be showcased, and we should really see how good Feaster is. I honestly think he can be just as good as Neal!!!@#@#&@&!!! We shall see. That's why we play the game

Could somebody explain the ASC Standing lineup for me. It doesn't seem to be in order, like the other conferences. Is Fox News incharge of the lineup?

Big weekend in the ASC coming up, and I'm excited to be there for two big games!

I'll be roving the sidelines with d3football.com's Keith McMillian at both McMurry and Hardin-Simmons this weekend, camera in tow.  As always, if any parents or players have special photo requests, please send me a private message or email me offline, and I'll do my very best to accommodate them.  Maybe Keith would even pose with you for a photo!   :)

This week's images likely won't be ready for viewing until sometime on Sunday, as my wife is celebrating her McMurry reunion, and we won't be back home until Sunday afternoon.  But they'll be up ASAP, and I hope that everyone will visit often.  Please remember that the proceeds from the sales of these prints go to support the operations for d3football.com!

Bill,
I think Feaster is better suited to handle the pressure just because he has the athletic ability to run away from from it. Jordan Neal was a great QB, but more of a target than Feaster. I think MC was good preparation for him for this week. Brian Young, our new coordinator, is very aggressive which has showed in the stats as we rank 5th nationally in tackles for loss and sixth in sacks. We sacked him four times and hit him plenty, but he didn't get rattled and escaped numerous other potential sacks. He did put the ball up for grabs a couple times though, but we couldn't make a play on it.

I would be more concerned with how HSU can stop the running game from what I saw of them. They still have good football players who know how to play and are obviously well-coached, but they just aren't quite as athletic as they have been.

Good Lord, do I need to shave and get a haircut?

Will look forward to seeing you, Josh.
