as hard as it is for me to do, and as proud of my college as I am, I am going to have to bite my tongue this year and just pray that we can get someone that can recruit the right players we need.  I think that is an area that may have been a little suspect at HSU.  This is just my OPINION.  Here is to hoping that we can salvage what is left of the season.

I can't imagine playing in front of a crowd like that.  Sounds like it was just dead from what I am reading and hearing.

I know players read this all the time, I know we always did when I played.  So what I have to say now goes out to all the current HSU players that read this.  It's time to go to work men and something Jimmie K always told us was "Hat's off to the past, and sleeves up to the future".  Its time to really roll the sleeves up because you are up to your elbows in it!!!

Care to go into more detail on what you mean as to the "right" players? Where do you see them lacking and where do you see them good at?

Let me add my congrats to Ralph, and Keith too for that matter.  They both deserve to be "front page news" every day for what they do to support d3 sports!

Ralph, I also thought Keith did a great job in capturing the Village and McMurry homecoming.  Thanks to the  McMurry  Athletic Foundation for bringing him to West Texas and spotlighting ASC football.

As everyone knows, we out here of course are so outnumbered by the many many schools outside the south and west (and I mean geographically-- not our athletic regions where part of Pennsylvania is in the south to balance the regions as we have to do); however, this site  certainly gives us our fair share of coverage and we Texans appreciate it. Thanks again.

no news on the board this week about the ETBU/HSU game in Marshall.  ETBU has played and beaten no one of any quality. ETBU has no team speed on offense, but their Defense is very solid and fast. HSU is coming off a clubbing by UMHB and an exhaustive marathon at the upstart CHOCTAW's.
While HSU should be the favorite and might win in a solid showing, another conference loss for the Cowboys might be disastrous for their future Karma. A win in this one might give ETBU alot of hope rolling into the last month.

It just seems to me that you would go for the players that you need in positions that need to be filled is what i mean by the right players.  Not just going to a school and recruiting anyone who is interested in playing at the next level but going after a kid that is going to step in and fill a role you need filled.  Just my opinion.

minni,  I'm sure HSU tries to get the best players they need, but sometimes you can only get the ones that want to come.  HSU competes in a small pool of talent because of where they are located.  If McM becomes better, the pool gets even smaller.

I know that everyone here loves talking about SRSU, so how does everyone think round 2 between SRSU and TLU will go this Saturday.

Bill, McMurry has expanded its recruiting efforts to the eastern half of the state.  Only 17 players on the "numbered" roster went to high school east west* of IH-35.

Congrats to Ralph Turner, on the front page of D3football.com. :)

I should be point out that the young man from McMurry Ralph and Keith are posing with is representing the Ogalala (Lakota) Sioux tribe.   ;)

Sorry I missed that--I've been at a conference for the last three days.   :P

Ralph, it looks like HSU has like numbers for those east of IH35.

UMHB up 70-14 in 4th quarter.  Yes, they aren't playing their starters.  Left at the half.  They just have to much.

UMHB third team is playing and moving the ball. But sounds pretty sloppy.

As grainy as the images may be, I hope that the Flynt's upload the video to You-tube.

Mississippi College played their best game of the season to beat LaGrange 50-7 and outgain the Panthers 562-127 in total offense. The Choctaws led 36-0 at the break and held a 371-38 total offense advantage in the first half.

LaGrange is now 0-7 but had been competitive against good teams. This was by far their biggest blowout. They led Rhodes 21-0 at the half, led Maryville 3-0 at the half, and trailed Bridgewater 18-7 at the half. Last week they actually outgained Washington U. in total offense and trailed 19-10 late in the game.

Looking forward to seeing UMHB this weekend. Should be another great crowd with the Crusaders coming for homecoming.

Ralph Turner

Chris how was the crowd at LaGrange?

And don't they have a beautiful campus and baseball field!
