Great game by the CRU this weekend. Total domination. The only thing better than the game was the "Queso Factory". I think a good lesson can be learned from the beating that LC took this weekend. A coach should never talk about a possible upset before the potential upset happens. All you do is piss the other team off and make them play that much harder. Only thing worse than playing UMHB, is playing UMHB whenever their mad. Good luck to everyone this week, lets get prepared for MC. I'm sure they will be expecting you to look past them to UW. Let's take this journey one step at a time. GO CRU!!!

Ralph,  I viewed the AP tape of Mike Flynt's playing for Sul Ross.  It crossed my mind that, back in the day, you ran cross country for McMurry and played a little deep snapper at one time.  We are fairly well stocked at receiver, but snapping on punts, extra points, and field goals.........

Keith and Josh would come back to see your first game and go to Joe Allen"s BBQ.  I do not know which event they would think the most important.

The CRU will not be overlooking the long road game at MC. They are aware of the high powered offense MC brings to the field.

Weak Safety

I'm more interested to see how their (thus far) impressive rush defense holds up.  If anyone in the conference can stop the rushing attack, it would be MC.  I just don't see how anybody stops it though.

Any predictions on the rushing totals?  Or do you think they'll let Welch throw the ball like they did verses McM?

D O.C.

I've not researched so I'll ask...any TV for the UMHB-WW game?

I believe WW has a pay per view.

Both schools are to be congratulated for scheduling such a duel.

Ralph, leap frogging ahead a tad, do we know the semi-final match ups?

North Vs East  South vs West, perhaps?

DOC, I think we cannot guess that until the last day.  If UMHB goes 10-0, then I think that they host one semi, especially if CNU, UW-W both earn Pool A bids, and either Millsaps or Trinity wins the SCAC.

But I think that you make a good case for both.

My thoughts are like always they will try to establish the run first. ;)  However, they do have a more balanced attack this year than any other, so I feel they will take what MC gives them.  If MC loads up in the box to stop the run, then Welch will have no fear in throwing the ball!
Anything that you ardently desire, vividly imagine, totally believe and enthusiastically pursue will inevitably come to pass !!!

I still don't understand this whole karma thing......

UMHB does have a good balanced attack this year. Much like the attack in 2004. If a team puts 8 in the box against UMHB, then they have to count on their DB's to guard a 6'7 wide reciever all by them selves. I haven't checked, but i doubt anyone in the conference has a 6'7 DB. Much like in 2004 whenever PJ Williams would run by most DB's in the conference. Now P.O. is just jumping over all of them. UMHB is hard to defend. Even if you do put 8 in the box, or 9 in the  box. Can the opposing defense smash heads for 4 quarters. I doubt it. Not many defenses can handle the "Hog's" all game long. Atleast not in the ASC. UMHB's depth and skill level on both sides of the ball just wear on teams. With 3 talented running backs, 10 great o-lineman, and an o-line coach that keeps up the "TEMPO". I don't see very many teams wearing down the CRU this year. Good luck to yall. Take care of business this week. GO CRU!!!

Once you have a certain number of posts, you earn the right to applaud or smite someone because of their comments.  People who get on and say offending, stupid, or overly homerish things are usually smited quickly by the longtime posters (most of who came to a mediating level of homerishness because we were likewise smited).  Posting insightful or well thought responses will get you applauded, and occasionally someone will randomly applaud someone just to be nice.  Applauds = +1 to karma smites = -1.  You have been smited 9 times more than applauded to reach the -9 mark.  Btw I applauded your asking the question.

Welch's improvement as a passing QB is the biggest change that I think that we have seen in UMHB.  Having Patrick Oliver as a receiver in clutch situations doesn't hurt.

Oliver's physical characters are intriguing.  We can see if he gets some pro tryouts.

Ralph, If I remember right, and Kelly probably know better, Josh was a good passer in high school.  I've thought that was a side of his game that has been underused most of his career.  He usually looks a little rusty when passing, but when you only pass 10-15 times a game on a good passing week what do you expect.  I'd love to see Josh get more reps throwing the ball, and I wish he had 1 more big receiver.

UMHB wouldn't have made it to the Stagg Bowl in 2004 without Welch's passing.

Ralph,

LOL... if only there were enough alumni in the Northwest to even begin to justify thinking about such a request.

When UMHB played Willamette at Salem in 2003, the invitation to the tailgate party only went to alumni. There were a total of 5 present (and that was counting me and my wife). This year, I asked the alumni office to invite all the UMHB fans making the trip. We are hoping for a good turnout. And an even better game... as in UMHB by at least 4 touchdowns!

My UMHB connections tell me that Josh Welch is tabbed to start at QB. I only hope that with him at the helm they might open the offense up a bit and throw more. We shall see...

This is going back a bit, but I knew I remembered a comment somewhere...
