CruAlum39,

The 04 playoffs were one of the worst experiences of my life.  I had to work every Saturday from 9am til 7pm as the only instore personnel in a pizza restaurant.  To follow the games I brought a laptop to work, ordered a dial up internet service, and logged in through the work fax line so I could listen on a poor dial up connection.  I dropped signal at pivotal times, customers wanted pizza... I got nothing done beyond making the orders until the games were over.  And the Mount Union game almost killed me.  When PJ got the long reception and then the game winner was made, I screamed loud enough that my employees thought I was nuts.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Great post 39. The 04 season was one I will never forget. Great memories. I still watch the game every once and a while.  Still to this day, I think that Brett Elliot didn't score on that one play that you stripped the ball. Horrible call by the refs, in my opinion. The afterparty at your place made it feel a little better but definately didn't take all the sting away. Hopefully the boys this year will make up for it a little bit. I'm a crusader 4 life. To many great friends, and to many great memories not be. I'm just glad that I got to share my college career with the guys I did. I wouldnt trade it for the world. Word of advice for the guys in this conference that are still playing. Don't take any of it for granted. Once it's over, it's over. There ain't no going back. Try your best to have no regrets, if not, you will carry them to your grave. GO CRU!!!!

TX2OK,

It's "little", not "lttle".  That is not using Firefox Mozilla as a browser!

Saturday will be a good test for UMHB.  Most of us think they can go deep into the playoffs, but this will be a good conference test.  On the road against a good offense.  I'm not sure MC has the defense to slow down the Cru, but you never know.  A turnover here or there can really change a game.

Does anyone have an idea on what kind of crowd will be there Saturday?  MC is playing for a playoff bid.

D3 Trivia Question:

Is it...

Frostburg State or Frostberg State?
Gettysberg or Gettysburg?
Heidelberg or Heidelburg?
Muhlenberg or Muhlenburg?
Waynesberg or Waynesburg?
Wittenberg or Wittenburg?

Miss College draws better than anyone in the conference.  It should be a playoff atmosphere.

Chill out TX2OK, no disrespect intended. I was posting after two long days of meetings and travel. I was not certain of the spelling, but did not feel inclined to look it up. And while I am an editor, I have never considered perfect spelling or grammar to be necessary on any on-line forum. If either of the two ever become expected, there are many posters that will be in trouble.

I'm glad someone has asked about HPU and why they look to be going down hill because I didn't want to start the subject.  I'm kind of a numbers guy and l have been looking at at 4 different areas stats, Passing (Attempts-Completitions-Interceptions), Turnovers (Fumbles), Penalties, and Time of Possession (TOP) for HPU Football for the last three years(2005, 2006 and the games played through 2007).

2005 Stats
Passes Completition - 62.5 %
Opponents Pass Completition - 53.9%
Passes Interception -  10.7% (This was derived by the passes intercepted by the number of not completed passes)
Opponents Passes Interception - 17.5% (This was the year HPU set the ASC record for Pass Interceptions ina Season at 29)
Fumbles Loss - 63.6% of the Balls fumbled the opponent recovered.
Opponents Fumble Lost - 30.8% of the opponents Bass fumbled HPU recovered.
Penatility Avg - 8 for 66 Yds per game
Opp Penality Avg - 6 for 54 Yds Per game
HPU Avg TOP - 30:16
OPP Avg TOP - 29:44

HPU Season 7-3

2006 Stats
Passes Completition - 55.6 %
Opponents Pass Completition - 50.3%
Passes Interception -  9.8% (This was derived by the passes intercepted by the number of not completed passes)
Opponents Passes Interception - 7.8%
Fumbles Loss - 72.2% of the Balls fumbled the opponent recovered.
Opponents Fumble Lost - 42.9% of the opponents Bass fumbled HPU recovered.
Penatility Avg - 5 for 37 Yds per game
Opp Penality Avg - 8 for 80 Yds Per game
HPU Avg TOP - 29:55
OPP Avg TOP - 30:05

HPU Season 5-5

2007 Stats Through 6 Games
Passes Completition - 52.0 %
Opponents Pass Completition - 47.4%
Passes Interception -  10.7% (This was derived by the passes intercepted by the number of not completed passes)
Opponents Passes Interception - 7.9%
Fumbles Loss - 61.1% of the Balls fumbled the opponent recovered.
Opponents Fumble Lost - 72.7% of the opponents Bass fumbled HPU recovered.
Penatility Avg - 9 for 72 Yds per game
Opp Penality Avg - 10 for 73 Yds Per game
HPU Avg TOP - 29:24
OPP Avg TOP - 30:36

HPU Season 0-6

Out of all the statas what stands out to me is that HPU turns the ball over way too much.  Out of the past three season (so far) HPU has only had two games where they didn't turn the ball over to the opponent and they were in 2005.  Turnovers are drive and game killers and turn the momentum of the game.  They do not allow you to control the clock and they keep the defense out on the field too long.

Bill,
Our stadium can hold about 8,000 if it is jam packed but I would guess around 5,000, it is homecoming this week which is usually a big crowd anyway. I will try to get some shots of the crowd this week for game photos.

Really looking forward to seeing the Crusaders. I'm not real familiar with ASC teams before 2000, but it sounds like they could potentially be the best team in the history of the conference.

Something about his previous posts leads me to believe TX2OK, especially, knows how to spell Fredenburg...
