Not to knock the ASC. But I believe the competition in the WIAC is alot stiffer than in the ASC. Each year the WIAC has several teams in the top 25. They all play each other pretty close. On average UMHB has one team to contend with in the ASC. In the WIAC, everyone has a chance. Just from what i've seen in the past......Therefore, UW's opponents  compared to MC opponents is not a valid comparison. Just my .02

I wouldn't expect anything to be easy for UMHB in this weeks game.  Last year was a great game and UMHB had several opportunities to win.  I'm glad Kleppe has graduated as he was unblockable.  As always, if they play solid defense and run the ball, I expect UMHB to win.  I don't expect 600+ yards, but 300+ would be nice.   :)

I think with the way UWW won last year (opening kickoff) the Cru definitely owes them one this year!  The way the offense and backs have been performing, I look for real offensive production this year, not a game to be left to the "return team" to determine the winner.  And the D, swarming and impressive!
I think the starters will get to play the whole game, but I don't feel this one will ever really be in question.
GO CRU!!

Thank you gentleman.  I didn't want any bulletin board material coming of the ASC board.

It's still early.  ;) ;D :D

Actually, I think it might be too late.   8)

While I will be following the UMHB - UWW game I will be silently rooting for HSU to keep their streak alive.

QuoteWith that being said, I will not accept, under any circumstances, any response that is offensive or insulting. At this time, I'd like to make a note that it is my general policy to not read or respond to any e-mail, message board post or private message that is derogatory in nature. I do my very best to respond to every single e-mail and message that I receive from you folks. For the most part have been absolutely fantastic, even most of the ones that have an issue with something I've said.

Darn it Wes....I was just getting ready to call you all kinds of bad names!!!  And now I am too late!!!!   ;) ;D ;D ;D

Good column....keep up the good work!!!  ;)

Cru fans,
I just posted this info on the WIAC page in response to questions from some of you.
There should be adequate seating on the visitors side considering the distance traveled.  SJU and UWLX (06 play-off games,) are within 3-5 hours driving and they travel really well and filled the stands up but I seem to remember there was still seating left.  Perkin Stadium is one of the top 2 largest stadiums in D-3, if I am remembering right, seating over 11,000 so the visitors side is also bigger than most I would guess.

Someone asked about restaurants, etc.  The nicest is probably, Randy's Fun Hunter's Brewery. (I am serious. That is the name.)  If you like Mexican, there is Karina's downtown.  Also Fat Jacks is the nicest bar and serves good food and bloody Marys but not a lot of seating.  Rick's Eastside Pub is another casual sports bar with good food and can't forget Sax Lone Star outside of town where the QB Club congregates.  When I just want to drink, I go to the Boar on 2nd steet across from Karina's.  Ask any of the locals for directions.
The Hawks fans tailgate really well so feel free to join us.  Hit the Wal-Mart for a styrofoam cooler so you can drink out of the trunk of your rental car and come join us.     Looking forward to repaying that wonderful Texas hospitality.    Hope all have safe travels and we have an injury free game.  I believe it will be a relatively low scoring defensive stuggle again this year with the victor being the one who controls the ball, makes the least mistakes and performs best in all three areas, O, D and yes, Special Teams!    I expect the winner to have earned it at the final buzzer.

My best to roocru, sorry that you won't be making the trip.  Love the stats as always.

Re: streaks...
from the LINFIELD football website

Quote...the enduring challenge of maintaining a consecutive winning seasons streak is evident this season...UC-Davis is tied for No. 2 (and 10th all-time) on the active consecutive winning seasons list with 37 winning seasons in a row, but the Aggies are currently 3-5 with three games to play...Dickinson State, an NAIA program with a record of 2-6, had its streak broken at 29 winning seasons after a 17-13 loss to Valley City University on Oct. 13...also in jeopardy of securing a losing season are Division III affiliates Augustana (3-4 with three games to play, 28 winning seasons) and Hardin-Simmons (3-4 with three to play, 15).

Way to dig.  +1 for you.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Thanks!  I appreciate it as always!

I don't mean to be the pessimist here, but I am cautious about all this talk that the UMHB-Whitewater game will never be in question.  As one who has lived in Wisoconsin I will agree that Whitewater plays stiffer competiton every week.  While this is a big game, they play "big games" week in and week out.  So I don't want all of ASC fans to get too far ahead of ourselves.  Also just like all of us "Texans" have a pride in Texas, people in Wisconsin take great pride in being from Wisconsin and will be fired up to defend their home turf against the Cru. Just a word of caution

Question for the board:

Will the second place team (assuming they finish with two losses) have a chance at the playoffs?

I very seriously doubt it.  I think that the only way we get two bids is if ETBU beats UMHB and gets the AQ.  UMHB would be a strong candidate for a Pool C bid.
