because of strength of schedule?
Yes, sir.  ETBU should not have lost to Trinity.  Millsaps may sit at home for losing to MissColl.  Had HSU beaten Linfield, they might get in with one other loss to UMHB (and UW-Lacrosse), but not 3 in-region losses.  SRSU may not have a "signature" win to help them.

The Pool C message board will have a bunch of stuff about this next week.  I have come to appreciate the 8-10 posters who seriously discuss the Pool B and C stuff about this time of year, as well as Keith McMillan's Around the Nation.

I haven't posted any of this Pool C stuff because there are too many schools with big games to play (and why Gray Fox, Proudmcmdad and I went with 12 Pick'em games this week instead of the usual 8!)

As strong as we fans think that we (ASC schools) are, I ask you to compare this season to your local marathon or 5K.  You look at your time and you say that you were only a few minutes off the time you thought you ran, but there were 25 guys who finished in between where you were and where you thought you ought to be.

As I follow this season after season, this is so little room for error, that a team just has to win them all!  It is just like that missed free throw or that 3-putt green or that unearned run in the top of the second that loses the whole dadgum thing!  :-\

I don't mean to be the pessimist here, but I am cautious about all this talk that the UMHB-Whitewater game will never be in question.  As one who has lived in Wisoconsin I will agree that Whitewater plays stiffer competiton every week.  While this is a big game, they play "big games" week in and week out.  So I don't want all of ASC fans to get too far ahead of ourselves.  Also just like all of us "Texans" have a pride in Texas, people in Wisconsin take great pride in being from Wisconsin and will be fired up to defend their home turf against the Cru. Just a word of caution

Excellent point McM BD...with so many top-shelf teams so close and on the Whitewater schedule, this is just another game.  However, make no mistake about it, it is a BIG game.  BTW, where were you when you lived up here? Menomonie?

umhb2001,
(IMHO)-please don't equate Miss College's run defense with being anything above below average. I 've been preaching this for weeks. If any umhb fan or player thinks they have done something better than run through a sickening Defense in MC, you will be in for a rude awakening the next couple of weeks when you run in to UW-W's and ETBU's veteran front. (yes etbu has a strong veteran front and always plays thier best game of the year against the CRU). UMHB will not run for 600 a game for the next two weeks.

Stats is stats, and when you look at the type of season they have had, Miss College was not a bad team.

Comparatively speeking, we've not gone up against any tought run D then y'all have. While they may be a little bit better than ours, we have totally obliterated everyone on the run, and if you factor in the defense you have faced, we may not come out to 600, but 500 isn't a stretch.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

I can't wait for this weeks game.  Good luck CRU and go pickup a win on the road.  This is going to be a tough game.  Both teams should advance to the playoffs no matter who ends up winning so I pray that both teams finish the game injury free.

Good luck CRU!

Nice write-up from one of the local newspapers that covers UMHB that shows much respect for the Warhawks: http://www.temple-telegram.com/story/2007/10/25/44487

One thing is for certain, all our comments on the forum don't count for squat. The two teams will do all the talking that matters on the field Saturday. I anticipate a physical, well played game by two top-shelf programs.

Shaping up to be a good one on Saturday in Wisconsin. Here's the weather forecast: http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?
query=whitewater%2C+wi

Right now the high is expected to be 52 degrees with a 30% chance of rain. Not too bad. I would think the CRU would welcome the cooler temps.

BoBo, Sorry for the delayed response.  While in Wisconsin, we lived north of Milwaukee, in Grafton.  My nickname  through you off, though.  I am not affliated with Stout, but that was a good pick up on your part.

Thanks for the comments, and I will be interested to see what happens.  I see the weather will be 52 on Saturday in Wisconsin.  That is a beautiful fall day up there.

Met Medlock's dad in Jackson on Saturday before the MC game.  The UMHB purple shirt sort of stood out at IHOP!  He predictied 2-3 touchdown win - that was generous!  And it was a fun conversation knowing that we were the only 2 people anywhere close by so enamored with D3 football!
Gotta pull for the Cru against Whitewater - counting on you guys to represent the southern schools well!

A question to my friends in Belton.  What is the local radio station that will carry the UMHB-Whitewater game.  I will be in Temple this weekend where a family member is in the hospital and will probably be driving around some?  Can anyone help?

1400 AM KTEM IN TEMPLE carrys the games--Jim Cooper on play by play and George Haffner on color. Coach Haffner was the offensive coordinator for UMHB for many years, including the Stagg Bowl team. I believe he retired after the 2005 season. I will be in Wisconsin, so listen for me, MCM Blue Devil!
