Trinity is not much more likely to schedule games against HSU than they are against UMHB.  Why travel further to play against a team that traditionally has had a lot stronger team than TLU, and risk an in-region loss that kills your playoff chances if you don't win the SCAC?  TLU is close, and a 'safer' game for non-conference for TU than either HSU or MHB.

Pretty sure most of you would not be listening via radio anyway, but according to the latest article in the Temple Daily Telegram, the UMHB-Trinity game will not be on the radio. I'm not sure how to feel about that, guess it won't matter much since I will be at the game.

I guess I spoke too soon. The game was moved to another radio station, 91.3 FM, with the usual 15 minute pregame start time.

aldl linfield is still on hsu's schedule for next year. both teams like playing each other and its always a great game. like you said i do believe the cowboys will strengthen their defense in the offseason to go along with a very potent offense they'll have again next year.  Quinton will be hard to replace but i hopefully we'll find someone special.  and khud you were right trinity doesn't want to risk a loss by playing someone of umhb and hsus caliber.  Personally i wish they would play either of us so it can show how strong the asc is compared to the scac.  Sorry scac maybe ya'll should schedule one of us so you can prove me wrong. ;D  does anybody know when the all conference teams are announced for the asc?????

I'm glad they worked something out.  does apply to all possible playoff games?

My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

I'm sure this question has been asked alot, but why isnt Trinity in the ASC? Excuse my ignorance if there is an obvious answer.

Do you have documentation for this claim?  I like playing Linfield, but haven't heard anything about an extension of the series from Grubbs or Neese--and I just visited with them about three weeks ago on the subject.

Good question!   :)

Trinity was a charter member of the TIAA at its founding in 1976 (with Tarleton St, Sul Ross St, Austin College and McMurry.)  By about 1981, Trinity was finding more out-of-common with the TIAA than it desired, so it left.

It has been a member of the SCAC since 1989.

Players said the jimmie keeling said our schedule for next year will be the same....i dont have a sheet of paper saying it but thats what it is.  he said that linfield will be coming to abilene again next year and the cowboys will be traveling to Wisconsin-lacrosse.  call the school if you want but i always believe what jimmie keeling says.

mhb8904, according to the UMHB's website it says the only reason it was bumped from the normal station is that the station will be airing the Temple Wildcat game. So I guess it depends on their success and when they play. I really don't mind, because I never got good reception of the other station anyway maybe this station will be better.

I have heard that HSU and Linfield re-upped for two more years as well, but that the i's haven't been crossed and the t's dotted. Or something.

Yep it's official.......somebody with Karma giving potential don't like me at all. LOL
A comment about a bad hotel in Abilene got me -2 karma points.  That's funny. Glad karma's not that important.....

A comment about Trinity not being in the ASC........Didn't Austin college leave the ASC because they felt their academic standards, as well as the cost of tuition was more comparable to the schools in the SCAC. Thus putting them in a better position to get the same caliber athletes as other SCAC schools. Not to mention, that the competition in the ASC is stiffer than that of the SCAC. They've won 14 out of the last 15 conference championships in football. Not to mention all the other sports that they dominate in the SCAC. If they were to move to the ASC they wouldn't be able to dominate the conference like they do the SCAC. Just a thought.............

I think that about sums it up, yessir... still would be fun to have another football program with a tradition of good teams added to the conference though.  But then I guess we face the problem of two good teams being left out of the playoffs if they don't get pool C's instead of just one.

Jimmie also said that he thought this team stood a chance to be pretty good during the preseason.  We all saw how that prediction turned out.

I do hope we re-up with Linfield--they're good people with a good program out there in Oregon, and I've enjoyed seeing them on our schedule the last two years.  I hope they've enjoyed their brief affiliation with us as much as I have with them.

Consider that there are more collegiate sports than just football, that Trinity has won national championships in women's basketball, men's soccer, and both men's and women's tennis, and get back to me on the issue of dominance ... not to mention that Trinity hasn't won the conference all-sports championship the last two years, DePauw has.

Some people here think that football is all that counts but the success (or lack thereof) in football is not why Trinity is in the SCAC today.  Consider also that the football program struggled in the SCAC before they hired Steve Mohr and AD Bob King (from Millsaps!).   Plain and simple Trinity is in the SCAC because the schools share a common approach to student athletics.
