I sit on the 50, 17 rows up, and I try to get the crowd going, and a lot of times, they sit there quiet.  I start chanting "D-Fence" and they sit there eating their dog and DP.  The crowd needs to step it up big time!

I sit on the 50 three rows up and a lady in front of me asked me to quiet stomping my feet cause it was giving her a headache. LOL So instead I started yelling really loud. She was not very happy at all. The UMHB fans really get on my nerves most of the time. Specially the ones who have never stepped on the field. Fans are so critical. Perfect example......UMHB ran the options alot last saturday. Probably 70% of the time. Everyone in the stands around me were fussing about the option. Then they run the option pass and score. Some dude behind me says...."That's been wide open all day long.....why were they running the option so much.". I turn around to the guy and let him know that all the option run plays set up the pass play that they just scored off of. He just looked at me dumbfounded. If you don't understand football, you shouldn't try and be a critic of it. I can't sit with the "regular" fans anymore. It's just too frustrating. For now on i'm going to go sit with all the black guys.......LOL

For the playoffs I am buying reserved seats, but normally I get gen. admission.  I like general admission because I can always find family of players which gets entertaining.  For homecoming I sat near Jarell Freeman's family, what a hoot.  Last week I sat next to a former UMHB volleyball coach.  That was fun.  This week could be bad though, my sports hating father-in-law wants to go to the game with me.  He knows nothing about football, but is very loud and supportive of "the real baylor" so might be interesting.

Toby,

Are you going to be at the NCW game? I/we will be there in force. Let me know, it would be great to see you.

I'll be there.  I'm getting tickets on my way to Killeen.  I'm in Hamilton now.  I'll  let you know where I'm sitting after I get the tickets.

My wife always gets reserved seats, cause she likes to sit on the 50 yard line in the red seats. I can't stand all the "Uneducated" critics. GO CRU!!!! HAPPY TURKEY DAY!!!!

That sucks about PO, he definately helped the CRU stretch the field during the passing game. Hopefully he'll heal up good. Our tickets are for Section D, Row 6, Seat 11-16. Pretty good seats....but i'll more than likely be sitting with all the old washed up guys in the student section.

Is that "the real baylor" whose had as many head coaches as victories the last several years?

No.  For those who don't know the history of UMHB and Baylor, both were chartered by the republic of Texas under the same charter in 1845 in Independence, TX.  Baylor, the men's school, left Independence to join with Waco University to become the Baylor we know today. Baylor College for Women, now UMHB, moved to Belton in 1866.  The name Mary Hardin was added in the 1920's to honor a benefactor whose financial help helped to save the school when in financial difficulty.  The same benefactor, John Hardin, contributed money to Simmons College, now Hardin-Simmons University, and other schools as well (there is a Hardin Building on the campus of Abilene Christian).

My father-in-law, who was a campus boy in the all female days, considers UMHB the real Baylor for a few reasons....Loyalty - he, his mom, both of his children, his son-in-law (me) and part of his(my) family, and other relatives have attended.  I think my wife and here brother were the 6the generation from his famiy to attend... history - Baylor College for Women remained in Independence when the men went north, and were it not for the female college, Baylor would have ceased to exist during the civil war.  All of the men went to war.  It was just a few female students who remained in Independence to keep the schools alive... meanness - need I say more?

Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving.

Weather forecast for Belton?

Kelly Boggs

#6762
According to Weather Underground, Saturday's forecast for Belton is for temps in the mid-40s lower 40s with a 90% chance of rain and northeast winds 10 to 15 mph.

I will be begging, borrowing, or buying some appropriate clothing, because I don't think I packed clothes that will keep me warm enough or dry enough.

GO CRU!

P.S.
While I am not big on the karma thing, and the fact that it is all anonymous is really raw, I have to wonder about its purpose when someone get's a negative karma for simply wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. Who knows how many I will lose for posting the weather forecast.  ???  ::)  ;D
