Every team has their share of "rude fans"...it's the nature of the beast.  I think a majority of the CRU fans are not rude....and I have experienced very gracious fans from teams we have played in the playoffs in the past.. W&J had the most hospitable fans I have ever come across.

Let's pray for a safe trip to Delaware, an injury free game and a WIN for the CRU....

GO CRU

Thanks for the invite to tailgate...hope to see you Saturday

My first chance to post since the UMHB game... and I have not read any other posts. The conditions were just miserable. The CRU throughly dominated every phase of the game.

Toby,

My phone stopped working when I got in the stadium. I did not get your message until last night. I walked down at half time to the front of section D and scanned on stands, but given everyone's attire, I could not tell who was who. I could not remember what row you said you would be sitting in. Sorry we missed each other.

Im with you there pg04.  The thing that really good teams do is get a lot better throughout the year while other teams peak around week 5-7.  Im sure Wesley is a team that has continued to improve throughout the regular and postseason.

Hey Cru 39,
Load up the pops and head North for a couple of those drinks we owe him after last years Stagg Bowl! I don't believe there will be any Whitewater women at this game so we should be safe in keeping the owed number at about a case!  :o I've got tickets lined up again for you guys if you do join us on the 15th of December, and of course about 12 hrs of tailgating with a little Nat'l Championship game sandwiched in between.  ;)

I doubt very many members of this board follow Central, but can anyone tell me how they are so good. I know football isn't played on paper and stats can't tell you everything, but I look at their stats and they don't look like the third best team in the nation. Obviously on the field they are very good, but I can't figure it out and was hoping someone here could shed some light on the subject.

Congrats and Good luck the rest of the way to the Cru!  I am a Sul Ross fan and hoping you guys the best - hopefully we will be ready for y'all next year in Alpine!

It's my first time back on here in a little while.  Report cards and holidays really took up my time, plus I was doing well just to keep up with things over on the OAC board.

I hadn't realized until this morning that the UMHB game was played in poor conditions.  It makes that score much more impressive to me, and more than a little scary.  I'm looking forward (but hopefully not ahead) to December 15th when hopefully MUC will be in Salem.  With each week and each score, I get more and more nervous that UMHB may be waiting for them!  We both played weaker opponents this weekend, but if y'all did that in bad weather, it might be showing that you learned too good of a lesson by losing to Whitewater earlier in the year.  I've said in the past that the best thing to happen to Mount Union in '05 was our loss to ONU in the regular season.  We might not have won the Stagg that year if we had walked into the playoffs.  This year is looking a lot like the years we lost to St. Johns and UMHB...somewhat easier regular seasons covering up some things that the playoffs and great opponents exposed.

Well, if we do both make it to Salem, I'll be looking around for some of y'all.  Though I won't be staying overnight at all, I'll be up there early in the morning, and will stick around a bit after the game.  Good luck the next two weeks!

Here's wishing the Crusaders (and their fans) a safe trip to Delaware and good luck as you pursue the championship!  Congratulations on a big win in harsh conditions last Saturday ... we know you are the real deal.

Take care of business and bring it home to Texas, men!!  If we had to be defeated by somebody, we hope it's the 2007 National Champions!

Let's go CRU... the the third time is the charm against Wesley.

Maybe third time for a Texas team to go to the Stagg will be charmed!  :)

Ralph,  I like the way you think.  Hopefully, the Cru will have a good game this weekend in Delaware.

What a miserable day for foootball last Saturday in Belton unless you were a UMHB fan!  It was just one of those days for NCWC.  If they played 20 times I expect UMHB would most likely win virtually every time, but never again by that score. I have seen in person every UMHB game this year, and feel I have decent insights into the team and their opponents this year.

I still think there is something at work with a 400-500 mile bus ride one week followed by a plane flight the next week that many people (see WIAC/UWW fans) dismiss too lightly. That of course is the exact same scenario with NCWC on  Saturday as it was with UMHB/UWW earlier this year. UMHB was really lethargic that day.  It is hard to understand how   you could be flat playing such an amazing opponent, but if you have ever played the game you know how fine the line can be between success and failure--especially against a top flight opponent like UWW. UMHB's effort, strategy, execution and quality generally was not up to its standard at UWW.  I am not so naive as to ignore that a great team on the other side--far superior to anything UMHB has played yet-- had a lot to do with the result, and I feel in a neutral setting at that time UWW was still probably the better team, but only by 7-10 points or so.  IF there is a rematch I expect a very competitive game.

I understand the UMHB defense was unhappy with its results against Trinity and comments about their play.  It showed on Saturday.  I don't care what the weather was--and it certainly hurt NCWC--the UMHB defense was dominating against a quality team.  UMHB will need another performance like that at Wesley.  I have seen both Wesley games in person and obviously Wesley is very very good again.  Wesley seems to have UMHB's number, but I hope and expect things will be different Saturday.  I know Wesley still has a lot of weapons, but Warrick was a great quarterback and hurt us badly both years.  UMHB is definitely a different team, especially offensively, than the 2005 or 2006 versions. Wesley's field is small and can be intimidating, so I think the experience there last year should help.  I will be there and cannot wait!

For everyone's information, Jarvis Thrasher hurt his foot on UMHB's second drive and returned only for a couple of plays after that. He did not play after the first quarter and still had those 95 yards.  According to Coach Fredenburg in the Temple Telegram on Sunday, it was only sprained and he should be back.  While UMHB has amazing depth, we certainly need him against a team like Wesley.  I agree with everyone else--I hope the third time may be the charm against Wesley and beyond!

wesleydad

rick, i was wondering how different umhb is on offense, they have 4 linemen returning and thrasher was the go to back last year.  welch is still the qb.  against wesley last year thrasher ran for 66 yards on 15 carries, team totaled only 115.  i have seen every wesley game both years and i know that wesley is better against the run then they were last year.  if umhb can not at least look like they can throw the ball i believe wesley will be able to shut down the run.  you are correct that wesley has a new qb and he will have to have a good game for wesley to win.  will wesley be able to run for more than the 32 yards they did last year?  maybe, maybe not.  the wesley o line is also improved from last year and is only giving up i think 1 sack per game.  umhb will bring pressure, will it work?  this will be a good football game.  since you are coming up, make sure you get there early enough to stop by the tailgating area.  we will be there, and i have already put out an invite to all umhb fans to join us before and after the game.

wesley dad, we have a lot of the same players, but many are different. i bet similar to you guys. we will have to play our best to win the game on the road. just hope the weather is not like it was in belton on saturday. it was much worse than expressed on this board or web site.

wesleydad

drinkxs, just did a quick 10 day for dover, mostly sunny and 43 on saturday, so it doesnt seem like it will be like belton last week.
