Steve Wright has resigned from the head coaching position at Sul Ross.  I just left the meeting where he notified the players.  A national search will open up next week with the candidate pool being decided by the end of January and a hire hopefully made  by the first of February.

What a blow to a program that was experiencing growing pains?

I felt that Coach Wright had the opportunity to make that a perennial winning program.  Whether SRSU would ever make the playoffs is a question shared by at least 6 other teams in the conference in any year.

Today let us remember our Soldiers and Sailors who lost their lives at Pearl Harbor and those who survived the attack in our prayers and thoughts.

It's quiet in here.  Is everyone currently traveling up to Wisconsin?  Or is the time for talking done, and the nervous expectation is starting to settle in?

Yes?
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

What surface does UWW play on????

Grass... aka frozen tundra...

The fields was cleared of the snow that fell during last weeks game, repainted and lined, and then covered as has been the practice during these late season games.  Here what it looked like before the Wesley game in 2005:

I believe the plan was to remove the snow off the tarp that fell during the week today, replace the tarp for Friday night, then remove it on Sat morning again in time for the game.  Should be as ScheckDiesel described.

if they do the same thing they did before the wesley game in 05 with the heaters, thawing the field out, then remove the tarp, the field will be frozen at game time and palyers will slip all over the place.

The heaters were actually a good idea 2 years ago had the weather been as forecast, however, the conditions changed drastically on Friday night and the field froze.  From this, they possibly learned that maybe it wasn't a good idea to use the heaters and I believe they didn't go down that road last year or this year.
The ground is going to be frozen, that is certain. If if snows during the game, it will accumulate and not melt.  I just don't think there will be a layer of ice on it at the beginning of the game like 2 years ago.
