Gray Fox and I want to thank Proudmcmfan for his help with the pick'ems contests over these last 3-4 years.

We are accepting applications to volunteer as a moderator of the game.

You can continue play the game.

The job involves double-checking the database for the predictions made and providing input to the games for the next week.  It should take only about two hours of your time total over the weekend and late week to compile the results.

Please send a PM or an email to me if you are interested.

Thanks.  :)

Congratulations to Bill McCabe on his son's wedding!!!  ;D  CruAlum39 was there and told me it was a great affair.
Anything that you ardently desire, vividly imagine, totally believe and enthusiastically pursue will inevitably come to pass !!!

Congrats Bill!  I hope the new couple has a long and happy life together.   :)

Roocru and Ron,  Thanks.  It was a very nice wedding.  The poor souls are in Hawaii for their honeymoon.  :)  She is a wonderful young woman and our entire family thinks the world of her.  She is also an UMHB alum.  Ryan learned well, the wedding was before football season.

With great offensive players returning for hardin simmons such as Mychal Carrillo , Justin Feaster, Travis Watson, and Justice Backer along with last season redshirts Matt Fields and Adam Podzemeny, How productive is this offense looking. They posted fat stats last year and with only losing Quinton Jones in the back field should we expect a bigger season from the flashy Justin Feaster.

The o line being coached by the great Burleson i dont think they will have a problem fillin in the two spots that graduated last year even though those two were monsters on the line.

Another thing.. the past couple of years Adam from Mississippi College had the grace of Jake Allen and the other wide reciever. What exactly does he have returning that gives him the advantage for offensive pre season player of the year?

Im very excited to see what the offensive coaches have in store at HSU with all the weapons they have around.. I mean is there even enough positions on the field to get all their playmakers in?  ;D

The Defense is brining a whole new better ball game to the picture and even though i havent met the new coaches i have enjoyed watching their coaching style during spring drills...

That's a pretty big "only."  I do think that the offense will keep clicking, but I'm just not sure about the D, especially if the D-scheme is changing.  HSU should have dominated several games last year, but instead they had to win a foot race to win because the  D kept teams in the games.  I guess we'll have a better idea after the UW LaX game.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

you right quin is a huge loss to the team! His leadership was unique to the team! On the other hand the defesne has high spirts and high hopes! I know all the coaches started their coaches meetings this monday and they all seem very excited!

Sep 6th can not come sson enough

I hope you are right hsufollower.  The defense was the worst in the nation, i guess the bright side is things can only get better.  I hope things do get turned around on that side of the ball this year.  Coach Wartes always has and always will have the weapons he needs on offense.  Who wouldnt want to go play for a powerful offense like that.  But the defense is what it is.  We need to give the new coaches a chance and maybe a new face and maybe some new philosphy's can change things around.  Not being pre-season ranked in the top 25 for the first time in a long time should be another motivation factor.  Good luck this year Cowboys and its time to take you hats off to the past and roll your sleeves up to the future.  DO WORK!!

HSU's defense lack of speed was their biggest problem last year.

Josh Bowerman

I don't disagree, Bill--I'd only add that there was a lack of aggressiveness and poor technique/tackling, too.

The latter two issues will have been shored up by the first game, I think.  We'll see about the speed.

I was on campus on yesterday and i seen a very healthy young man talking to the coaches he was probably 6'3 285 or more after asking another one of the kids there working out, they said he was a tight end  that had committed to oklahoma state but is going to mcmurry. Does anyone know of any truth to this?

i agree about speed but one thing is.. we can even compare this years defense to last years it would be fair and is awefully dis respectful towards the new coaches. IF people dwell on last year alone then the faint of the team will probably have a similar resemblence... On the other hand we have to give this year a positive outlook going into camp. WE MUST turn over a new leaf and go on to the next chapter of HSU football.. I feel if the team dwells on last years defense it will split the team and tragedy will occur... I hope the leaders of the team stand up address it and be done with it... ITS A NEW YEAR AND A NEW SEASON! ITs time to just wreck guts... THe inexperience on defense is will improved... The PASS RUSH WILL BE THERE THIS YEAR giving the secondary and linebackers in coverage a better chance at covering and not having to cover for longer than 4 seconds.. cause in todays aerial assualt game! 4 SEconds is probably 6!
