I don't know how many stay Ralph, but I can tell you that I talk to a number of alumni who came to UMHB to play football and ended up as students and never completed a year as a football player, but that was the case even back in the scholarship-no football days.  I had tons of friends who came to UMHB on baseball scholarships and didn't play more than a year.
Good morning, Toby!

That is the business model that D3 is using to attract students on many campuses.  Of all of the high school grads last May who are now attending college, the ones who were not finished contemplating interscholastic/intercollegiate athletics are finding a home in D3 (and NAIA and "walk-on D2").

Football is a big driver in achieving goals of gender balance and extra enrollment.

My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Freeman has been resigned by the Titans. He was released earlier, but the Titan's LB corps is pretty banged up. Hope Jerrell can stick this time.

Todays reporter news has an article about the 11 people trying out for the RB spot at HSU.  Here's a link:

Thanks for the link, Toby.  Good story.

I'm hoping they can narrow it down and figure out the rotation a little faster than they did at the QB position last year.  The prospects for a solid replacement for QJ do seem bright, though.

I read where HSU had 157 out for the first day this year.  Good luck this season boys.  Coach K has you a good schedule to prove to America we are back.

Greetings from the MIAC....

So, who can give me a decent look into that St. John's can expect from EBTU up here in Collegeville?

Will they pound it out behind the line with all 5 starters returning? or does their QB have the skill to mix it up?

Anything else would be great!

Non ETBU-fan opinion, here...

You should expect athletic skill position players.  Fast guys, but not as fast as they've had in the past.  Bit of inconsistency in the passing game.  Up front guys aren't as big as they've had in the past.

At least that was what I saw, in a nutshell, when I saw them play last season.

Mr Bowerman, I wouldn't base anything about ETBU based on what you saw last year.
Their freshman recruiting class was very good for a D3 school, with top tier transfers at strategic positions. They have the fastest and most athletic team that they have ever had at ETBU.

This according to their coaching staff and interested observers at ETBU's training camp.
They are going to surprise some teams with their speed...
Welcome DIII Watcher.

If ETBU is better than the 2003 team, then they should be a contender for the Conference Championship.  That would be a big jump from last years team.

Recruiting classes are even harder to judge in Division III than in Division I.

They seem awfully excited about it in Marshall. The reaction to seeing them in action is "They just look different in uniform than they ever have at ETBU." "This is a new level."

I guess we'll have to see them perform in the games against other teams to be sure how good their recruiting blitz was this spring and summer.

Looking forward to the season.  Good luck to everyone...
:)   ;)

We heard it hear first.  "A new level".  A new level at this level is D-II talent!

ETBU is going to the Stagg Bowl!   :D ;D

For one thing if they play DIII this year they won't be playing anywhere in DII or DI next year. If you move up a division you sit a year and you lose a year of eligibilty...
