Why not use the TLU and McM games to work on other areas of your game, i.e., passing?  You are not showing your hand.

I thought that it made perfect sense!   :)
I agree, but if you work on it shouldn't you use it?  Even yessir said that the game was the most unbalanced offensive game he'd seen.  (If I'm wrong here yessir let me know.  I don't feel like digging up the quote so this is from my memory).

Like I said before I am an HSU and UMHB fan.  I can speculate all i want to and talk about rematch all I want to on here I am not playing.  And as far as schedule goes UMHB still has ETBU and HPU as well.  HSU could still win the ASC crown.
Once again I think UMHB would be in a better situation to get a Pool C bid due to their playoff history...just a thought....not one I want to think about but the season is still very young. I think UMHB needs to get healthy and start opening up their play book...they will need both to make a run in the post season.

I dont think, and I could be wrong, the committee goes on the past.  I think the scheduling of opponets has to got to help HSU this year if it comes down to pool C spots.  HSU scheduled two south region opponets which has got to help them when it come playoff time.  But again just stating my two cents.  Oh I love d3 football. ;D

It was a great game....definately a nail bitter. I think today the Cru was more one domensional (sp) than I've ever seen them. Seems like every play was an option with the QB keeping the ball. I would of liked to see the offense a little more balanced but you can't knock the coaching staff for running what was working. I just know the Cru will need to be more balanced come Nov. and Dec.
For the sake of proper reference ;D

I did not see the game, but for MHB to more one demensional than ever would mean almost exclusively run. Back in 2002 & 2003 with Cody Fredenburg, they were pretty one dimensional run, when it came down to it.

minni

used2be, i believe it was 73 or 74 runs to 6 passes.

Scheduling the in region games is a huge plus, but depending on how the season ends may not be much help.  UWLax is winless right now so that win doesn't help much if any, and the quality of the Linfield win is to be determined as the season plays out.  As it stands right now Willamette is in the lead for the AQ, but they have not played Linfield yet, and that game is a rivalry game so who knows what will happen.

I think it all boils down to the committee does what it wants to...just to satisfy the ole dolar bill. Therefore if it came up to UMHB and HSU getting a poll C bid...I think they would prolly pick who ever would lose first...that way they can get rid of a couple flights...so maybe HSU would be the better pick. Who knows what they'll do. I only had to wait on the committee one year and it was the longest sunday morning of my life...not to mention a waste of time since we didn't get a bid.

I say screw the committee and just win out....which only UMHB and ETBU have the chance of doing so.

Yessir,
You are right about MHB being one dimensional, if that was the ratio 73/74 runs to 6 passes, seems to be, well, just wow! That is more than they used to run, even with Cody Fredenburg running the option and the isolation game. Wow! Do they not have decent receivers? I would think running that much must mean lack of pure ability to throw and catch.? ???

In previous games Saenz has thrown the ball well, and recievers have caught the ball well....so I don't see why that couldn't of happened saturday. One of UMHB's bread and butter passes was only thrown once....a play that goes really well with the option. Maybe the coaches were just doing what was working...5+ yac isn't a bad game plan...i'm not sure. I do know that Coach Fred will get it right....i'm sure he wasn't proud of the way his team played, as I know some of the other coaches weren't. I have no doubt winning a national championship is his goal, and he will do whatever it takes to his team in a position to do so. With that being said....I think UMHB's best year...2004 when we went to the National Championship...was also UMHB's best passing year. With a QB fresh out of a pass happy HS program...Josh Welch...throwing the ball to some explosive wide outs...P.J. Williams...with a solid running game. The Cru was very balanced that year...which I think was a key to their success. Running the option well can set up some huge play action pass plays...plays I have seen in the past...plays I didn't see saturday at all. Why....IDK...

BAM there he is...lucky we caught that error before he showed up Toby...could of really started something. Man that was a close call....speaking of close calls....I'm surprised the 4th down play at the end of the game hasn't been brought up yet....as there was a roar of "Boo's" coming from the super classy HSU bleachers...any input on the "spot" on that play. Seemed really close from where I was sitting....

EVERYONE,

WE SHOULD JUST STOP READING ALL OF yessir's POSTS. FEW OF THEM HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH FOOTBALL. MAYBE HE JUST NEEDS MORE FRIENDS ANY TAKERS ON THIS BOARD?

The Around the Nation podcast (see front page Daily Dose) this morning talks about the Pool C chances for HSU.

I think that they are very good.

The WIAC always has a high OWP/OOWP.

Linfield always has a winning season.

Those are good opponents.

We need the SCAC runner-up to be 9-1!

Now I have seen everything, Hardin-Simmons loses and they move in the Top-25 by five spots to #16.

By the way not saying they aren't that good, just surprised.

I have seen it all from the Cru fans now.  Bitching and moaning because we lose to yall by two points and we move up in the polls.  Yessir I haven't really seen many HSU fans complain about calls or anything else really.  Was the spot bad?  I dont know I wasnt on the field hard to see from the angle I was sitting at.  Did I agree with it, heck no I am an HSU fan.  But we did it to ourselves.  The defense stepped up in the second half and made several stops in a row and the offense does nothing with it.  HSU only has themsleves to blame.  Why we come out in the first quarter with the wind and run the ball 5 times in a row is crazy to me.  the bread and butter for HSU is passing.  Why we do that just amazes me but again I am in the stands now and not in the pads.  But when we get the ball in the 4th quarter I dont know if it is the second or third play but we pass and make a long touchdown.  I saw a heck of a lot of encouraging things Saturday afternoon and I can not wait for November now.  I am now an HSU and UMHB fan, I am wanting this rematch.

Wow I say two sentences on a subject and I am bitching and moaning, guess I will learn to be more sensitive next time. If you would have read my extremely long post of two sentences, I said in the next sentence that I was not saying that HSU was not that good, just surprised they moved up by that much after a loss.

I have all the respect in the world for HSU, and I do believe they are one of the better teams in the nation, however moving up by 5 spots is not the typical thing that happens after a loss.
