If UMHB is not the top 5 team they were supposed to be at the beginning of the season maybe HSU should give back those 5 spots it gained in the polls by losing to them.

HSU is still appropriately behind UMHB.

at what point do they determine what brackets play other brackets?

All this fuss about rankings and who gets a home game.....That's one thing I love about D3. Regardless of the scenario the best team will win the national championship. It could be worse......D1 for example.
Walking on thin ice cuz someone lost......again.

hey man are you paying attention....they've suffered a lot of injuries...thats why they arn't playing like a top 5 team. I'm sure everyone will tell you they played well against hsu, back when they were playing like a top 5 team. If you look at it hsu put a pounding on them as far as injuries are concerned, thats when they started falling off.

I'm not sure how much UMHB has fallen off.  They lost to Southern Oregon, but have controlled the ASC except for the HSU game.  The loss to Southern Oregon is not a disaster.  This week will be a good test for the Cru and we will have a better idea.  I hope the running game can regain its explosiveness.  If Hurst doesn't play this week, then maybe he will be back next week.

Toby Taff

The UMHB games notes are up at:

http://www.umhb.edu/files/game_notesetbu_08.pdf

and while they don't herald the return of Daniels or Hurst, the two-deep does show Roger Sanchez back in the tail back slot, and it shows Pi'Dadro Davis back as the #1 receiver... both are good news.  Sanchez, was number 2 on the depth chart before Hurst made the switch to RB from QB, and Sanchez has been able to pick up the bruiser yards UMHB is used to, his downside is no real breakaway burst of speed.  Maybe this is the start of the road up to good health.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Amen to that, yessir.

TigerDad

Today's San Antonio Express-News has several articles on Trinity, UMHB and other Texas D-III schools ... all available on-line from here:
http://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/local_colleges/

This has to be the most information ever published in SA (maybe in Texas) about Division III football ... very impressive and well-researched.  No doubt this is due to the publicity surrounding the Trinity-Millsaps matchup on Saturday.

A tip of the hat to the MySA.com Sports editors and reporters ...
Trinity Tiger Football ... where champions compete on and off the field.

Ron Boerger

Y'all come on by the SCAC board and tell us who you think will win the Millsaps - TU matchup tomorrow.

My picks for this weekend....I can never remember if I've already posted these or not.

Mary Hardin-Baylor 27, East Texas Baptist 18 in 26 possessions
Mississippi College 24, Howard Payne 21 in 26 possessions
Louisiana College 23, Sul Ross State 19 in 26 possessions
Hardin-Simmons 30, Texas Lutheran 18 in 22 possessions
Let's go 'Nados!

CUAfan -- The winners look right. Posessions might be a little off. My prediction: Spreads are off by an average of 15+ pts.
Not really a bad dog. Just misunderstood!

CUAfan

I haven't figured how off the predictions are in a few weeks, but that's about what they were when I was, baddog. I think I'm going to tinker with a different method of doing this during basketball season to see if I can find a better way.

Didn't get to see the game, but it sounded like a good game for the Cru. Did they say why Kyle Noack started the game and played the first half but then Josh Saenz played the second half. It seems that Kyle is going to be a nice starter for next year.

Gotta give a lot of credit to Bryson Tucker who I think is on to his 4th or 5th position as a Crusader. Coming in and becoming the 6th player to rush for over a hundred yards.

At the same time, got to give credit to the o-line who makes it possible for our rushers to look so good.

baddog

CUAfan -- You did pick all the winners correctly, but the average margin was 24.25. Again your greatest miss was HSU's margin. That has consistently been the case I think. How do you figure that?

CUAfan, I think that your algorithms do not hold up as you get farther from the middle of the sample population.

When the middle three play each other or the bottom four or the top two play each other, it works, but it doesn't work outside those ranges very well or amongst those groups.

Bill McCabe

The Cru defense looked like it was in Championship form.  They held ETBU to 6 first downs and 19 yards rushing.  The offense has to do a better job of hanging onto the ball.  Four fumbles is way too many.  Tucker rushing for 138 yards is very encouraging.
