So we meet again in Central Texas.  The Cowboys of Hardin-Simmons and the Crusaders of Mary Hardin Baylor.  Two schools that routinely clash it out twice a year.  A bitter rivalry between two of the top programs in the country.  Two schools that have a bitter hate but yet an insane amount of respect for each other.  Two head coaches that are looked up to, not only around the state of Texas but also around the country as well.  HSU and UMHB loaded with talent from top to bottom and should be yet another winter classic from Tiger Stadium in Belton, Texas.  So much to play for these days, it's a win or go home attitude now.  The first meeting between these two teams this year decided by a meer two points on extra points missed and a failed two point conversion.  Saturday at 1pm these two teams do battle again and a rivalry will have another chapter closed.  Who is it that will go on and represent the State of Texas through the DIII Playoffs?

minni, too bad they have to play right off the bat.  They both deserve better than that.  I think this should be another good game.  UMHB's defense against HSU's offense to me is always the key.  Pressure on the QB and turnovers.

HSU has been on such a roll, I wonder if the off week will have any impact on them.  I know I would rather have played a game.  Hard to schedule non-conference in week 10.

Here is the contact page to let your displeasure be heard about the continually bogus pairing the NCAA gives the ASC!

Otherwise, I look forward to another great game!  I love the game, but again, I hate it for our conference.  I don't profess to know it all, but somebody tell me, does this happen to any other bracket, where the top two teams from a conference have to face each other in the first round??  I understand the penny penching excuse, but why don't more people raise a fuss?  It's time to say something.

By all means, please let the AA know your displeasure, but don't expect changes unless someone comes up with the difference in costs to give the ASC the playoffs they deserve.  This is not agreement with what the AA does, just simple facts that money always trumps all where Division 3 is concerned.  That's why you routinely see Trinity #1s (in other sports like soccer) go travel to the east coast when the regionals come around - cheaper to fly them than to fly 3 teams to SA, and too bad about the fairness part.   It just happened again this morning - undefeated #1 team in the country gets to go play at #11 Swarthmore.

The West Coast routinely gets screwed for the same reason, tho not as consistently.  This year you will see that the undefeated #1 and #2 west coast seeds get to play in the first round, tho they are in different conferences.

Sorry for the first round match up again.  Your programs are top notch in this Wildcat's book and best of luck this weekend.

Looking forward to the 'Boys coming back out to the 'Catdome next fall.

Maybe Barrack Obama can work on the whole DIII budget thing when he's working on the DI playoff system.

Now that's a change I could get behind!  :)

I've already made my complaints on the SCIAC board.

On the plus side - we at least get a playoff funded by the NCAA in all sports.  We need the NCAA to get a larger March Madness contract or a small increase in our take.

I look forward to "The War on the Chisolm Trail" this weekend!  I don't know if that will stick, but hey, I'll take it!  Look, I hate the fack that we continually have this sub bracket, but like the post bracket show says, it's unavoidable unless we get another % of the pie or so.  It seems as though these guys love to be "gods" or something, like they are just moving their pawns where they want them. They have got to make a change!

But, as my thought on this game goes, the CouchCru will be ready, the Zimbabwean Storm will be on the loose, and I see the game coming down to a matter of 3-10 points.  The Cru are finally healthy and have been kicking on all cylanders coming off the SO loss, and I know HSU is strong and have made considerable strides since the loss to us.  I figure this, we are going to have to meet at some point anyways, we might as well get it over with!

Go Cru
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

UMHB2001,

very true we would probably have to meet anyway... But wouldn't you rather that meeting happen in a semifinals round instead of the first round. I think what has most UMHB and HSU fans upset is that both teams deserve better. Its hard to look at the other brackets except the west (which also go screwed) and not be a little upset. The game will be decided by 3 to 10 points though in my opinion. I love all this chatter on Tuesday. The one positive I have found in all this is.... Both teams have a tremendous amount of respect for each other and these situations help fuel the rivalry. Go Cowboys beat the Cru.

umhb2001

I would definately rather see that.  If one of us was playing Trinity, that would be good, but I guess that just didn't work in the brackets.  A second or third round match up would be more favorable!  But there is nothing to be done about it!

The teams will be ready, and I expect to see hats flyin all day long! It is going to be exciting!

Kind of hard to play a team that didn't qualify for the playoffs.   :'(
