Just surfing the HSU Athletcis website and saw this article about Brad Boyd, former HSU QB:

Best wishes to Brad and family.
Not really a bad dog. Just misunderstood!

hustla33

Just wanted everyones opinions on the toughest place to play in the ASC. Where and Why?

crufootball

I guess this shows how ready I am for some football, but I got really into your question hustla33. I counted every teams losses at home and there was a tie with both UMHB and HSU having 8 losses at home since 1999 when D3football.com started.

Some more background behind the question, UMHB has lost twice in the playoffs and HSU has lost 3 times at home in the playoffs with one of those being to UMHB.

Lastly UMHB has lost twice to HSU at home and HSU has lost four times to UMHB at home.

Year       UMHB   HSU   TLU HPU ETBU LC   MC   McM   SRS
2008   1   0   3   4   2   2   1   4   3
2007   0   3   3   5   3   3   2   4   3
2006   1   0   3   2   3   3   2   2   2
2005   1   1   1   1   2   0   4   3   3
2004   1   1   2   2   3   4   4   3   3
2003   1   1   3   1   1   2   3   4   5
2002   0   0   5   0   2   3   4   3   5
2001   0   1   3   1   2   2   2   6   4
2000   1   1   3   2   4   4   3   1   4
1999   2   0   1   2   NA   NA   2   1   4

Total           8   8   27   20   22   23   27   31   36

In conclusion, only 106 days till a real kickoff.

McMurry men finish 2nd in the outdoor national track championships.

Mississippi College finished with 4 points to tie for 55th.

From a proud dad!

Just a note to those who know CruAlum39.  He will soon leave the ranks of bachelorhood.  He is getting married on June 20 to a delightful young lady who is a former volleyball player at Sam Houston State.  He and his bride will reside in San Antonio where he is now the defensive coordinator for San Antonio Churchill HS.
Anything that you ardently desire, vividly imagine, totally believe and enthusiastically pursue will inevitably come to pass !!!

Great news roocru!  Congrats to you and to CruAlum39 on all fronts.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Congrats to CruAlum39, his bride-to-be, and you too, roocru.

DC at WC is a pretty good gig for a young guy, too.  It's hard to believe the program there has fallen on hard times - I can remember my high school breaking on the Charger rocks on numerous occasions.   Looks like there's some talent on last year's JV team to work with in 2009.

We're delighted CruAlum39 is in SA.

Nuptials...

Yeah, pre-nuptials...

Does the pre-nuptial agreement permit adequate time to spend attending UMHB football games each fall for the next 60 years?    :D

Well its over...

My son graduated from HPU this month.  He will not be playing football anymore, other than maybe flag.  It has been fun.  With Pop Warner, Junior High, High School and 4 years at HPU, I've been watching him play for the last 13 years and loved every minute of it.

He is continuing his academic career though; he will start Law School in August.

I'm not sure what I will do now with my Saturdays... I like Division III football a lot.  I guess maybe take in some games at UMHB since I live pretty close to Belton, but it will not be the same.

He had a successful career at HPU.  They beat every team in the Conference at least once.  He was on the HPU team that gave UMHB their last ASC loss.  That was a great game.  He played on the team that beat HSU at their home coming in OT.  He was the Deep Snapper on the winning extra point.  This was a highlight of a tough season.

He has had to deal with some adversity also.  The coach that recruited him wasn't the coach he played for his freshman year.  HPU had another coaching change before his senior season.  Coaching changes are tough on team chemistry.  The changes had effects as He was only one of two seniors on this last HPU team.

So I guess I will still support HPU Football, enough of my money went there, but it will not be the same.

I guess my message to all is enjoy watching your son or daughter compete and play the games they love because unfortunately it ends.  I guess I will have to wait for grandchildren...

Son vs Son

To Toby Taff, if you have a hard time with that imagine this. My house during the summers and holiday breaks, where we have both too. Brother against Brother, the younger one ( (UMHB) is having a field day with the older one (HSU)  on wins, in conf. and playoffs. But it doesn't stop there. At times we have to move all games out of the house so we can have a break from competition.   :o  ;D

I hope you continue to stop by the site as well -- there aren't many Howard Payne football people on the board and we could use every post we can get.

I have an aunt that was a professor at UT.  She married a professor at A&M and they lived in Bastrop.  While both were at their respective schools they had to not go to the UT-A&M game to keep the fighting down.

Sporting News College Football magazine preseason magazine is out. UMHB is ranked #4 and HSU is #7. The Choctaws get a mention in other teams to watch. Can't see St John's, ranked 3rd, ahead of the Cru.
