Recap from the NAIA#6 Cumberlands-MS College game.
A clean game with no turnovers and only 3 penalties on each team. Cumberlands is very comparable to UMHB so it was good from that standpoint to play a tough opponent. Big, physical, fast players who run the option and just come right at you. Not quite as big as UMHB and maybe not quite as good, but close. They went undefeated last year in the regular season and were a good bit better this year.

They dominated 55-26, but we did move the ball well. It was 35-20 at the half with them having about 300 yards and our offense putting up about 260. We played a decent half but just couldn't stop them.

Easily the story was their offense against our defense. They had the ball on 10 possessions. They took a knee at the end of the 1st half and 2nd half, and all other 8 drives ended in touchdowns. They were 11-12 on 3rd down conversions and the only one we stopped they scored a 4th down touchdown. They held the ball for 24 of the 30 minutes in the second half, we just couldn't get them off the field to give the offense a chance.

I still think we're a better team than a year ago after beating Millsaps who beat a local decent NAIA school today 27-10, Belhaven College.  But our defense just had a forgettable day today, it was hard to watch. We were missing two of our better defensive players, one who led us in tackles last week,  but that shouldn't have made that big a difference. We just struggled. They will have better days.

Tough loss again; one by 5 pts;  one by 3 pts.

AC intercepts in the end zone as we are driving, but we could not stop the run all night, so it may not have made any difference.

AC has the perfect style of play for that school.  They execute very well.

The scores here in the state are very confusing.  TU has two wins by less than a touchdown.

Ralph, my assessment from what I saw is on the ASC-in game board if you want to critique it.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Any updates on feaster and robbins

I hope they are both okay. It's awful to see these young kids get hurt.

Feaster is incredible, and throws absolute bullets. He deserves all the accolades he receives.

For the fans it was a great game, seeing two well-coached teams battle it out like these guys did. It's been a fun series, where we each have won at home, but can't do it on the road.

Good luck to you Cowboys on the rest of your season.

The gentleman who assessed today's injuries reported Zavious Robbins had a minor MCL strain and very likely to return next week.

Feaster possibly strained his shoulder or bruised surrounding areas of the acromion, which is located distal to the clavicle. Results from an X-ray to rule out a fractured clavicle, and MRI which will aide in determining the extensiveness of the injury, will hopefully be reported very shortly.  The gentleman, during his assessment, seemed confident the injury was minimal.  Again, it is inconclusive and hope to find out more info soon.

Thanks for the report, hsuASChamps.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Justin.

Congratulations to the Keenum's.  Coach Keenum was the coach at McMurry in the late 1990's early 2000's.  His son Case upset Okie State yesterday.

The saddest thing I saw was after the game.  I walked off the field I was walking in the same area as the HSU players.  And just like a little league game I see one of the HSU players dad all over the HSU head coach.  It was not pretty.  I won't say who it was but it was a starters parent.  The guy was grabbing the coaches arm.  To which coach told him to "get your hands off me."  That was pretty much it but I really felt for the coach.  You feel bad enough losing then to have some parent goes off on you it was really out of line.   Long trip home.

As a Linfield fan, I am so sorry to hear that.   HSU had nothing to be ashamed of. You are a class act.  That was Linfield's best offense against a top team in four years.   Being far from home and with Linfield's O playing an A game put huge pressure on HSU.    You did a great job.    All four of these games were tough.

That first half was up and down, it could have gone either way.    The blocked field goal did change the whole game.    But, if Feaster had not been hurt, that game could have a 70-80 point game.

I sure hope your two injured players recover quickly.   I would love to see another game with HSU in the playoffs.    Well, maybe.    Feaster and your O scares the heck out of me.

On behalf of the Linfield faithful I want to thank Coach Keeling for great 4 game series between our two programs.  It takes stones for both programs to put so much on the line so early in the season.  It was a heck of a back and forth the past few years and I hope I don't have to go back to Abilene unless it's in late November.

Best of luck 'Boys.....nothing but the highest respect for HSU from the Pac NW.

Ditto to what George and Wildcat11 said.

I'm embarrassed for the son of that dad. I hope when he calms down that he will apologize to the coach.

You guys have an outstanding program. Sometimes it's too bad there has to be a loser in a game, but that's the way it is.

It would be nice if the player's parent apologizes to Coach K but it seems unlikely.  If I had to guess I imagine it is the same parent that made a big scene in Belton last year when his son got hurt.  He spent a long time insisting very loudly that his injured son get up and walk off the field with his team.  It was a very unpleasant scene and didn't truly reflect what outstanding players, coaches, parents, and fans there are that are associated with the HSU football program and Hardin Simmons University.

Welcome back to the boards, HSUcheermom.

Always nice to have ladies on the boards.   :)

Unfortunately there are parents who make complete asses of themselves at other schools too. There is one at every Wesley game who yells from the first playoff the game at the Coaches by name and he continues to berate the whole game. I have seen this at high school  games the last few years and it certainly detracts from the games.
