What position did Yessir play?  Trying to think of who he was and how much he played. If he played enough early on, maybe, just maybe, he was getting rolled up while we were basically taking his ring from him. His real ring. Not just the one he gets to wear for sitting home in the playoffs. I just remember, they just kept talking about how "heavy" their hands were going to be from "winning all those rings." So, like Mac Brown and Vince said "we just kept playing." The shock on thier faces was worth all the blood sweat and tears.

Also, did not HSU win the conference in '04?

I often dont align myself with HSU people on here, but I just have to think they have a point on this one. enough is enough.

According to the cruathletics stats pages in 02 he played in 6/11, in 03 10/10, in 04 14/15 games. in 05 - 11/11.  UMHB.  You are correct that HSU won the conference in 04, but I suspect his ring from that year is at least as attractive. and from looking at the stats page, I don't think he sat home and watched the playoffs.

Yessir, Cowboyfan:  What time should we meet at Harolds?  Game kicks @ 2.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Haha...u guys. It flatters me the time yall are spending on your replies...gettin all personal and stuff. This board is for talking about ASC football...not how much an old player use to play...if you have a question send me a pm don't waste the others people time on this board with my personal statistics. I'm here to talk about UMHB Football wreckin shop year in and year out...and occasionally talkin some smack about the other "Boys" in the conference. So let's talk about some ASC Football and leave the personal talk for Harold's...wink wink

We will see about this weekend. I am impressed with how well UMHB has come out of the gates. I am interested to see this weekend how the Lines are shaping up. There were some major holes to fill on both sides. That is what is special about that program. When it is your time, you better be ready to step up.

Im excited to see the rest of the alumni this weekend.  8) Time to get hugged up.

McMurry's defense will face a major test this weekend.  UMHB is very fast.  There is very little drop off when the 2nd group comes in to play.  The freshman QB may be the fastest I've seen at UMHB and he is a good passer.

That is certainly great news. I know they have been working hard down in Belton. I saw them a few times in the spring and it was the most impressive looking group since the '04 team ;-).

I'm proud of the way they are staying focused on improving and not relying on their name to carry them throughout the season. It is time for us to break through and win it all.

BTW, used2b. HSU stomped us in 04, Ill give you that. I know I had my hands full. But, I wouldn't trade a Trinity, HSU, W&J, and Mount Union victory for a win in October.

All I know is the last three senior classes at UMHB have 4 rings. Albeit only the most recent class has 4 straight conference rings. Def has been a Purple Reign since '02.

Lets get after those McMurrys this weekend.

First I must say that I love this, its not even the week of the HSU-UMHB game and the chatter has already began.

On another note, there was an interesting article where Coach Pete makes clear there is no QB controversy. http://www.tdtnews.com/story/2009/9/22/60805

My favorite line in the story was the writer calling McMurry "the team formerly known as the Indians" like they were Prince or something. Is the term "The Nation" catching on in Abilene?

Toby Taff

I've heard "the nation" used a few times here.  I kind of like it.

I prefer "the Nation" to "the McMurrys", that's for sure.

Biggest concern I had going into the season was the backup QB. Having seen Bailey in 2 scrimmages and 2 games I no longer have that concern. Bailey has made great strides in 4 weeks with his passing and he can make people miss in the open field. Noack seems to be a more vocal leader now that this is his team. Noticed several times against TLU that he was engaged in emotional conversations with the O coaches. I like that.

Would that be the "Indian Nation?"  ;)

Bailey is going to be a stud.  He throws well, is very fast, and runs the option well.  He will be real threat.  I also thought Noack looked very good against TLU.  He reminds me of the 2004 QB.  :D
