umhb and hsu folk, i never realized how much you all seem to dislike each other.  we have a rivalry with salisbury, but the bantor never gets this personal.

roocru, read your response to muledaddy on the CC site.  it is hard for some people to realize how good some of these other teams are and that a national ranking only is that and nothing more.  wesley found that out the last 4 years as they reached the top 5 each time only to lose badly to a better team.  for some teams trying to make the jump to the next level, a high national ranking is all they have to hold onto.  wesley has learned that and hopefully can maintain the level that has been set these past 4 years.

see you in a couple of weeks.
I don't think many of the average fans in the Pennsylvania area understand their vulnerability to speed as a style of play or as a general team attribute, especially the combination of size and speed that UMHB and HSU have.  W&J thought they saw speed/quickness at Millsaps.  I think that UMHB is at an entirely different level now.

Good luck and enjoy 2009!

I think that Wesley matches up well with Texas teams because of your team speed.

So Ralph are you coming to the Stagg this year?  Roocru  is coming, hopefully with Crualum39.  It'd be an honor if you could come and join us as well!!
Brownies for Film Day--Now there's a Slogan I can live with!!!:)  Go EAGLES!

I really think UMHB only won because of the band, and I think I heard another cowbell in the stands. There were several questionable calls from the officials and I believe is this game is played 10 times UMHB wins like this once out of the ten times. Washington and Jefferson was not used to the harsh weather conditions in Belton- Oh and Yessir this is for you, If HSU didnt have to play UMHB they would be in the National Semi-Finals right now. There I think I got it all  :D

I thought the band was in very fine form Saturday.  We actually paid attention to see if the played during play on the field.  I don't think they did.   ;D

The speed of the UMHB team and their physical play was better than W&J team.  This game seemed to get out of hand pretty quickly, as it was 49-7 at the half.  I believe that W&J just played a team that could punch them in the mouth, and then also run around them.  As I have always told my friends, "SPEED KILLS".  And W&J found that out Saturday.

Congrats to W&J on a great season, ggod luck next year.
Go Cru and get ready for a good game this weekend, see you guys this weekend!
Play Hard or Go Home!

This game seemed to get out of hand pretty quickly,

Not that it would have changed the winner/loser, but perhaps the relativity of the game,

It LITERALLY got out of hand in this particular situation.

W&J, down 28-7.  Screen pass for big game.
Quarterback runs for nice gain, losses the ball (got out of hand).

Cru recovers, drives down, scores, end of discussion.

Been wrong before.  Will be wrong again.

Bob,  W&J was completely outmatched.  Even if they don't fumble and end up scoring, UMHB would have still scored at least 63 points.  W&J had no answer for the option.  The QB keeper hurt them time after time.  I think Saenz averaged close to 10 yards per carry.

Wow!! Check out the Centennial Conference board.  Pretty hostile and not one mention of HSU and UMHB.    :)  Go ASC.

Semi Finals in Belton America, That a baby CRUSADERS!!  This is the year we knock off Whitewater, we've played some classic games against these guys and i'd expect this one to be hard fought as well.  GO CRU, see yall this weekend!!!
"What are they gonna do......... not start me?"

CRU96

Why do I love D III football?  It is easy.  UMHB vs. UWW in the Semi-Finals in Belton with the winner playing for the National Championship.  UMHB needs to remember they not only represent the CRU family, but all the ASC, and the South Region in this HUGE game.

I cannot believe that in 10 years we are playing for the right to go to the Stagg in our home stadium.  UWW is worthy of our respect, and we must play the best game of the year to win.

I have been out of pocket for the last couple of days, but I want to weigh in on the HSU/UMHB banter for a moment.  I do not believe that UMHB is as prepared for this game against UWW without the close, hard fought game with HSU.  The Cowboys are not just a rival game they are formidable in their ability to play well and yes, win big games.  To my fellow CRU fans, we must not become arrogant jerks, and forget the road it took to get to where we are playing in the semis this weekend.

On of the greatest lessons I ever learned in football was how the Mt. Union fans treated UMHB fans in Alliance.  With grace and humility, and then the mystic of the game was unbelievable.  They were even gracious in defeat.  CRU faithful I appeal to our honor code, to be honest with ourselves.  We beat a very good HSU team, and that has prepared us for now.

So do not kid yourself, HSU will not go away and hide, they have already begun thinking about next year. By the way, we need to focus on Whitewater, they seem to have our number right now. (0-3 in the series) Time to focus in on the business at hand,  having the Warhawks on our mind.

My opinion only, but we must remain humble my friends, hungry, yet humble.

CRU96, Glad to have you as a fellow participant of this board!  +1!  :)

Props CRU96.  +1 to ya.

Pat,

Don't leave the coat at home.  You may not need it, but Texas is a strange bird when it comes to weather.  Forecast for today in Abilene high of 72, tomorrow high of 48 Low of 26 with a chance of snow in the am rain in the afternoon.  Saturday highs in the mid to upper 60's.  Be a boyscout  and be prepared.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

A Texas winter coat may be the same thing as a Minnesota sweater.   :D
