I'd be hard pressed to name one W&J starter that was better than his counterpart on UMHB.  The score could have been worse.
I'll work backwards.

The score could have been worse.  The score could have been closer.
UMHB is the better team, perhaps better at every position.  Never indicated anything to the contrary.
UMHB has a great team and it may be their best team ever.
Not bitter toward the Crusaders at all.  In fact, was on here as quickly as was possible, congratulating them on an impressive win.
And, finally, IF they advance to the Stagg Bowl, you're right.  But THAT was my point.  IF they advance to the Stagg Bowl.  30 teams that made the playoffs WILL NOT make the playoffs.  Two will.  And I believe that if UMHB doesn't beat UWW (a point I listed), the Crusaders '08 campaign will be one that "made the playoffs".  Nothing more.

What are you talking about?  You don't make any sense.  28 other teams would be thrilled to be in the semi finals.  That is a great season for any team.  Only 2 can make the Stagg Bowl and that is everyones dream.  Not getting there does not mean the season was only "making the playoffs."

Have to go with Bill here. Making the "Final Four" is an amazing accomplishment! To equate a Final Four team with a team that lost in the first round is suspect thinking at best!

Crufootball,

Thanks for the information concerning the pep rally.  This is the biggest game in our football history.  (IMHO)
I am with you, this game will not be won by t-shirts, and I do remember the t-shirt debaucle.  Threw mine away, I couldn't wear it after the loss that day.

As for the game, this is another opportunity to play the Warhawks.  Man, we must be ready to play four incredible quarters.

Humble, but hungry...Go Cru!

Gig Harbor Cat

Looks like the Cru is on a roll.  Can someone tell me what on earth happened at Southern Oregon eralier this year.  Southern is a team that our Cats took care of.  Just curious.
Should be an awesome game this Sat.  Some friends of mine saw the UWW -- Willamette game and commented that the WW O-line was the real deal.

Good Luck on Sat.

... I am glad that this time it is in Belton.  What an opportunity for the Cru to play for the chance to go to the Stagg in front of the home fans.
First semi-final in Texas since Trinity beat St John's in 2002.  :)

"So when it was announced near the end of the Crusaders' romp Saturday that Whitewater had defeated Wartburg (Iowa) 34-17 and would be traveling to Belton for the semifinals, UMHB's players and fans clapped, cheered and hollered."-Temple Daily Telegram

"And we can't wait to play them. It's like a present for our senior class to get to play them again."- Josh Littlejohn

I know no one needs any more motivation this weekend than they will already have. I don't have any illusions that posts on this board could affect the outcome of a game. Sounds like Josh is assuming some triple revenge here. I guess we will find out how sweet this gift is by late Saturday afternoon. Maybe I'll bring some wrapping paper into the Hawks locker room as  a visual for them. As hard as they've worked since last year's Stagg Bowl, they didn't realize they were working hard so they could be fodder to make UMHB's run to the Stagg Bowl this year all the sweeter. Interesting that UMHB actually prefers to play UWW to Wartburg. Well, they got their wish!

Of course we want to play them!  If we are going to be the best, we want to beat the best, and right now, y'all are it. This won't be the same game as in the past.  I don't really think anyone knows what to do or believes anything about our D right now! It will be a battle, and our D line will be swarming!
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

I was part of the team that got donkey-stomped by Hardin-Simmons in the regular season after those shirts were made.  I'm all for the pep rally, but maybe we should change up the saying a little instead of something very similar to what was done in the past!!!   That is just a little to eerie...  :D

CRU96, I am a little biased having played in the '04 Stagg Bowl, but I would like to think so far that is the biggest game in our programs history.  (Not taking anything away from this huge game)  Next in my mind would be beating Mount Union at home.  No disrespect, just a different opinion.

On another note, I also have been very thankful to have you as a poster for UMHB this year.  You seem to understand a lot of what football is about and what it is about at UMHB.  If I could give you karma I would, but it will have to wait about 30 more posts.   ;D
YOU KNOW IT!!!!

Gig Harbor Cat, the Cru simply played terrible that day. Our QB fumbled twice in the end zone which were picked up for touchdowns and he three 3 interceptions that day as well. We were down to our 5th and 6th running backs that needless to say had not seen much game action. And the defense did not play up to their usual standard.

All that to say, SOU took advantage of our mistakes and won the game.

Well, a couple of reasons for that loss.  #1, we were traveling and I don't think many of the guys took it seriously.  They were excited about the trip and didn't really focus on the game.  That has changed.

#2, we were down to our 4th or 5th running back having loss our preseason all american to a knee injury in game 2. We have now solidified the postion while getting deeper by having played a freshman and other inexpierienced players, and have gotten healthy! We are not the same team we were!  We will come and be prepared!

Ralph, and Toby,

Thank you, I felt the need to share from my experience.
Toby, I remember playing a Homecoming six man game in 1995 to help bring football to UMHB.  Nothing like playing with rented HS JV gear from Academy High School!
:D
Heath, I remember that.  The first homecoming football game.  Texas style 6-man.

Is this Heath P.?

umhb 2001,

Yes,  Heath P.  Sorry for all the nostalgia.  I am just proud of the hard work of the Cru.

Crualum39,

Thanks for the kind words.  I would have to agree with you. I am in favor of the pep rally, not so much the t-shirts. I enjoyed watching you play too my friend.  I was at the Mt. game in 2004 (as a fan)  and words cannot describe what happened that day.

I think that this game has the potential for that same type of play.  I know that this is enormous for the Cru, but I have agree with Ralph, this is huge for Texas Football!  Glad to be apart of the boards.

Just curious...

Has anyone made a "Fathead" out of "The Catch" at MUC?   :D

Toby Taff

It was my desktop background for a while.  So was the picture of UMHB spelled out in the MUC snow after the game
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

crufootball

They have not made it a Fathead but the picture is up in numerous places on campus. Also if they did make it a Fathead, I would be the first in line ;)
