I will be very interested to see if our o-line and d-line will be able to do as well as they have the past couple of weeks. I know in the past UW-W has been able to slow us down because they usually have excellent lines, but last week they gave up 6 sacks against  Wartburg.

Other than the schools themselves, very RARELY does ANYONE remember who made the semifinals in 1998.

Or 1993.

Or 2002.

Or 2005.

And so on.

Good luck, Cru.  Beat UWW.  Beat Mount/Wheaton winner.  Win it all!

I really AM hoping you do.

You've got to be kidding.  It is important to those that get there and because others don't remember doesn't diminish the accomplish.  Geez.

We must play with great poise, for we know that we will get their best shot early.  The line play has been very good in the past, and I agree with you that it should not be much different this Saturday.  There will be good plays and bad plays because both offenses and defenses are good enough to enforce their wills at times.  Our focus must continue to be down and distance and move the chains.  Bringing pressure should keep the qb off balance.

Bill I must agree.  How could anyone get that far and ever forget.   :o

With an opinion like Bob's, why watch anything but the Stagg Bowl?  Some years making the playoffs is a great accomplish, or reaching the regional finals, or beating a favored team, etc.  Sometimes we are disappointed by not reaching a certain level.  That being said, I enjoy every game and appreciate the athletes playing.  I remember a lot of plays and players.   Because it is not in the Stagg Bowl does not diminish these memories.

My opinion, the  Cru must win four phases this week to advance to the Stagg Bowl.  Three we talk about often the fourth is the one we need to be in the plus margin especially this weekend.

Offense, Defense, Special teams, and TURNOVERS!

If we win all 4 phases, there is no doubt the Cru will win.  :D

In each playoff game something special happens because of the place, time, event, or location.  We might not win every game, but the mystique of that game lives on in our minds.

I was part of the team that got donkey-stomped by Hardin-Simmons in the regular season after those shirts were made.  I'm all for the pep rally, but maybe we should change up the saying a little instead of something very similar to what was done in the past!!!   That is just a little to eerie...  :D

CRU96, I am a little biased having played in the '04 Stagg Bowl, but I would like to think so far that is the biggest game in our programs history.  (Not taking anything away from this huge game)  Next in my mind would be beating Mount Union at home.  No disrespect, just a different opinion.

On another note, I also have been very thankful to have you as a poster for UMHB this year.  You seem to understand a lot of what football is about and what it is about at UMHB.  If I could give you karma I would, but it will have to wait about 30 more posts.   ;D

I was also a part of that team that year.  It was a really tough loss, but in the end it got us really focussed and then went on our tear through the playoffs to the National Championship game.
I also agree with you on the fact of the biggest game being the NC, and 2nd being beating MU in Alliance.

Who cares what other people remember!  Fans are not always going to remember who got second place at the Stagg Bowl in '04... but I will.  It was important to me as a player.  Going to the Stagg Bowl and losing was a hell of a lot better than getting knocked out in the first round and just "making the playoffs."  No one is always going to remember who won the semi-final round vs. Mount Union in '04 when they were #1 in the country... but I will, because it was important to me.

So please don't downplay the importance of post-season games and look at it from simply a fan's perspective.  Fans come and go as their team wins and loses, and the game will never be anywhere close to as important to them as it is to those who are playing and coaching the game.  Please keep this in mind as we near the Stagg bowl.   If it was "RARELY" important to "ANYONE" then football, or any sport for that matter, would not be what it is today.  And what a sad thought that is...

GO CRU!!!!!

You said it!  I agree with you 100%!

No worries CrewAlum39.  I'll always remember that you guys took 2nd place in 2004!  ;)

Best of Luck this weekend.  I like the Cru's chances on Saturday.

I will be very interested to see if our o-line and d-line will be able to do as well as they have the past couple of weeks. I know in the past UW-W has been able to slow us down because they usually have excellent lines, but last week they gave up 6 sacks against  Wartburg.

That is a little misleading because our QB held onto the ball too long on some of those sacks.

I watched a portion of the game (UWW v. Wartburg)  The Warhawk qb seemed to hold on the ball too long that day.  Barber Greene is that his tendancy this year or just in the Wartburg game?
