Up with the Purple!

Wasn't that a singing group in the '70s & '80s?

Up, up with Purple! You meet 'em wherever you go.
up with the purple is the first line (& title) of UMHB's senior song.  Sung by Seniors and alumni only
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

I'm an old man.  Tried to make a play on words

Up with People was a music group who actually did FOUR Super Bowls, '76-'86.

Up, Up with Purple.  Go Cru, win it all!
Been wrong before.  Will be wrong again.

unfortunately, I am old enough to remember up with people as well.  However, the Southpark spoof "Getting Gay With Kids" is much more entertaining.

I love this time of year.  I have not checked the posts in a few days, but I have read them.  There were many things mentioned that I agree with

I watched Kleppe in '06.  He was definitely a huge impact on the game.

For UMHB the top games in the program would have to be (at this point) the Stagg Bowl in '04 and  Beating Mt. Union in Alliance  (I know this has been said just saying I agree)

As a player on the 2004 Crusaders I would be happy to lose the top game status to a National Championship title.  As a coach now reflecting on team dynamics, the importance of every year in a program becomes more recognizably critical.  As mentioned earlier in 2004 many fans would have been happy with a playoff victory.  The players and especially the senior of 2004 would not be satisfied with anything less than to be playing for a National title on the last day of D3 football.  The 2004 breakthrough set a new precedent for the program.  Now, instead of having a goal to win some playoff games, the expectations have risen.  I am glad to have been a part of that team, and I am confident that each year the Cru has improved due to leadership both on and off the field.
Sorry to go on for so long, but I am excited to see where the Cru is now and where the program will continue to go in the future.  I for one am a proud Cru football alum, and I am very anxious to see the CRU play in person this weekend.

I also read the article in the Temple paper.  I am excited to see guys from the 2004 squad working with the Cru this year.  I still remember Shinn as a player and coach and his passion for the Cru program.  There were others besides him that had this enthusiasm, but getting coached by guys who started the program continually motivated me personally and the team.  Those guys were the first to have a winning season, and now look where the foundation they laid has brought the program. I am sure these GA's are having the similar affect on this squad.  Zunk, Lopez, Bryson and Tito keep it up and take care.

Great post.  I believe that you captured the feelings of all Cru fans and football alum.  Thanks for the perspective and the insight from the 2004 team.  Your (2004 team) set the standard high for those who follow.  We will always be grateful and never forget.

Stay humble but hungry Cru, we are almost there...

roocru and toby, i am making the trip to alliance for the mount/wheaton game.  i will see how they compare to umhb, who i think will win this saturday.  i have also been invited to join some of the mount posters at a wing place friday evening after my 6.5 hour drive to get there.  i cant wait to go.  roo, i have your number and will give you a call if i see anything surprizing, like mount imploding or wheaton keeping it close.

good luck this weekend, enjoy the game guys, and roo and son see you guys in a week at the stagg.

WESLEYDAD,

Enjoy your trip to alliance, and may you find a good local brew to make the trip right.

toby, i have been ensured by skunkssidekick who delivered the best tasting winter ale i have ever had at last years stagg gathering, that wings has several more from the same company, so i will add to my list of fine microbrew beers, that is if i really kept a list ;).
