I tip my hat to the Warhawks.  Great defensive stops when they needed them, and we just couldn't overcome the scores in the third quater.  I wish the Warhawks the best next week in the Stagg.

Great year Cru.  I am already looking forward to next year.

Great season CRU. You overcame much to make to the semis for the second straigt year. The CRUnation is proud of you.

I agree wholeheartedly.  To have the struggles to overcome and to still play so well.  I too am proud of the Cru and all of Crunation.

First great game Warhawks, you looked like a defending National Champion today and pounded the rock.

Great season Cru and what a great four years for the seniors. A combined 43-9 record with an amazing 31-1 ASC record including 4 conference championships.

On a side note, does any one know what happened on the opening kickoff of the second half. I have never seen anything like that kick and I am still wondering what the official rule is for the situation.

Ralph Turner

Hopefully, that will be covered Monday morning with the podcast.

I'm sure it will since Pat was in attendance. It was weird seeing him in our press box, felt like I was seeing a celebrity.

I've watched football games for 50+ years and in that time I have never seen a kickoff go backwards.  I can't even understand how that was possible.  A punt maybe because it's kicked high into the air but a kickoff.  It must have been one hell a wind.  The  ball has to travel at least 10 yards before we have to field it.  Evidently that didn't happen this time so the ball belonged to the WARHAWKS regardless of who recovered it.  What confused me is why the officals had to huddle and discuss it.

Congrats to UMHB on their successfull season and best wishes for the future.  I'm a big believer in the law of averages but apparently it was irrelevant in this instance.

I don't want to hear about law of averages....I'm a cubs fan   ::)

In most games, UMHB wins the kicking game, but today it went to UWW.  The opening kickoff of each half was a huge play.  UMHB never could control the line of scrimmage and had a hard time moving the ball.  Whitewater was big and physical.  Congratulations on a great win.

Bill McCabe

Today was the hardest wind I've ever seen at a football game.  UWW did a much better job handling the wind than the Cru.  The TD drive into the wind before the half might have been the turning point of the game.

2 Scenarios:
1. A Stagg Bowl Championship, having defeated Warburg College in the Semi's and MUC in the Stagg.
2. A loss to UWW in the Semi's, but the satisfaction of knowing they had that shot at redemption!

Hell, Tex, let's take #2. At least we gave our Seniors one more shot at dem boys from Wisconsin!

That about sums it up.  Better to go down swinging that to take the path of least resistance.  Like I said not rational, but sometimes its more about the challenge than the result.

Well, glad we could accomodate ya'll. Ya got what you wanted. Congrats to the Cru for a great season.

Now, don't you think that Belton needs to pass a bond election to upgrade the pressbox!   :D

Actually, I think it more has to do with the Wind than Whitewater's overwhelming abilities.  UWW is good, but I think that it would of been a far more even game if the wind had been settled.

Both teams had the wind so it was equal. We played horribly.  That first kick of the game and our guy is looking up like he's looking for a UFO or something.  If you can't see it, put a hand up and block the sun or something, but get out of the way.  N E Ways, we just played horribly.  Our D line was overmatched, and our O line was overmatched. I don't know what is in that cheese up there, but those were some big boys!  We had no answer.  And somehow, we decide to kick into the gail force winds, driving the ball back over our head???  I thought that was our ball, but I guess the ball has to touch the ground??  Anyone know the rule on that?  We cought some bad penalties too, but that is no excuse?  Can someone tell me why our DB's don't turn to look at the ball when they see the receiver going for it?  That cost us this game and several other plays during the season.  I mean, in HS I was tought to turn and look for the ball when you see the receivers hands go up and it is said almost every Sunday tv broadcast of NFL football.  IDK...

Oh well! Great season Cru!  Work hard and eat some Wisconsin cheese cause we have got to scale that WW mountain again!  I'll be there for the ride as well!
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

I didn't have a dog in this fight.  Here's what I saw; a team with a far superior offensive and defensive line won the game. UMHB got out muscled and out played.  I agree with whoever said the game was over when they drove 80 yards against that howling wind.  UMHB played hard but Whitewater was better.  The competition that is in the south must not be the same as in the north.  They're a quality team in the south.  In the north they would be a good team.  They were really hurt with Quincy Daniels not playing.  They lacked that breakaway threat in the backfield.  Several times there were good holes that produced 5 to 7 yards, with Quincy it would have been a foot race.
