Good luck Mr. Coker, it will be interesting to see how fast (or slow in my opinion) the program sees any success.

welcome BACK to Dr Hall. He is a great man and both HSU and HPU have benefitted from his leadership.

I hope he was in charge of athletics at HPU  ;D

UTSA reportedly is going to pay $200,000 for his salary.  This is the 2nd school to start a scholarship program in San Antonio.  That is 120 scholarships that were not there before.  There could be an impact on some of the non-scholarship schools.

Article in today's Abilene Reporter News.  Abilene Ruff Riders of the IFL have signed former McMurry QB Rashon Lewis and are looking to sign former Dallas Cowboys QB Quincy Carter.

Appears former HSU lineman Glenn Revell is also on the roster.  Thought I remembered an article in the Reporter News about former HSU tight end Jerrad Grisham signing, but he's not listed on the roster on the team website.

Unless Shon changes his attitude he will never make it. He plays for the name on the back.

If true, that's a bargain basement price for a D-I coach with a national championship under his belt (and an appearance in a second national championship game).

I think that Incarnate Word will end up getting more of the D3 types than UTSA, but 120 kids largely out of Texas (for IWU, South Texas) will have an impact as some of the premiere kids decide they'd rather have the chance to get their education paid for.

Ron, I think there have been players on UMHB and HSU that could have played at these 2 schools.

No kidding.  He mentioned how he didn't like the 0-10 McMurray team... or its direction.  Yet he was removed from the program at Mount St Joe after being on a team which won the conference and went to the playoffs.  No mention of MHB?  Hmm....

Interesting story in the DePauw paper...

http://media.www.thedepauw.com/media/storage/paper912/news/2009/02/20/Sports/Scac-Looks.For.Ways.To.Cut.Costs-3641137.shtml

Quote"Let me be clear that we are in the SCAC at this point in time," he [DePauw Athletic Director Page Cotton] said. "I have not had any discussions with anybody. I think that there's a lot of rumors flying around and that a lot of those rumors started as a result of three presidents in the conference expressing their desire to look at certain things that would affect our affiliation in the conference."

Wow I never realized how far apart some of the SCAC schools are from each other. I can't imagine all of the cost of travel they have. Wonder if we could talk Trinity into joining the ASC and Austin College to rejoin.

With a billion dollar endowment (before the crash) travel costs are not going to lead Trinity to the ASC.  They are very happy where they are.
