Honey I'm home...back for another great season of Crusader football. Checked out my first practice today...was pretty good if you consider people flying around TKO in each other pretty good...I do. I like what I seen from the Cru today...alotta solid hits...alotta enthusiasm. So is 09 gonna be the season HSU gets over the UMHB hump or will the domination continue (9-1 over the last 10 meetings with a winning margin of 14+ points...DOM'ed)...I have a pretty good idea what will happen. Can't wait till October 3rd...gonna be good times. I'm interested to see how the rest of the conference does...It's always good for the ASC to have several teams in the Top 25. Cant wait till the season kicks off...For the first time in a long time I'm off the entire weekend...so missing a game isn't an option unless there's a big truck show...GO CRU!!!
Walking on thin ice cuz someone lost......again.

I'm ready too.  I don't know what to think yet.  I'll form an opinion after I see HSU play, which unfortunately won't be Whittier because I'll be camping.  I've heard things from people that have seen HSU workouts that suggest good things for HSU, but we'll see how all that pans out.  As for 10/3/09, games at 2pm.  If anyone is up for it, come early and we can gather for BBQ @ Harolds before the game.  For those who do not know what Harold's BBQ is, I'll just say it's better the Schoepfs.  Send me a message if interested.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

I have been reading about LC, ETBU, and HSU's camps.  All seem to have made major improvements.   I agree with the above posts that this year will be intresting in the race for the ASC title.  Every game a struggle, and a challenge to stay on top of the standings.  I am excited about this challenge because the winner will be seasoned and endure many battles in the ASC headed into the play-offs.  This is encouraging to me.  With that being stated, where does the ASC now rank among other conferences (OAC, WIAC, MIAC,NWC,SCAC, and many others) heading into the season.  My list is not exhausted by any means, but I believe that the ASC has the ability to be a great conference for years to come.  Only time will tell the outcome, but I am optimistic that we are among the leaders now with the level of talent showing up at camp.  (IMO)

Go Cru!

Any measure of a great conference begins  with teams competing in week one, to all ASC schools playing September 5 I wish the best!

Welsey has a 6-4 WR  player (Ellis Krout)from  Dallas, Texas (Roosevelt) who played JR college out west. I understand he has been impressive in camp.  Have any of you heard of him?

My Texas Football Magazines from the past few years are in storage and so I cannot get the scoop on his high school days.

I think that Dallas Roosevelt was only in the 3A classification (of maximum 5A), so his level of competition is not quite the same as a Dallas Skyline or a Southlake Carroll.

I wonder why he left the state...family in California that let him play JUCO out there instead of here in Texas?

PA_wesleyfan

I actually found some articles and he was going to Oregon on scholarship from the Jr college but I don't see why he didn't stay.

Mr. Taff, the UMHB part of your education is showing.  ;)
HSU's first game is against Whitworth. Not Whittier. ;D
Not really a bad dog. Just misunderstood!

It's not hard at all.  MHB #1 ... HSU #2.  I cheer on the cowboys as long as they aren't playing the Cru ( they have, after all, paid for 2 Master's degrees and did paid my families rent for 3 years)

As a matter of perspective both HSU and UMHB must focus on every game.  I liken it to driving a truck, keep your eyes on the road directly in front of you.  If you get side tracked you wreck,.  Every ASC game will be a challenge this year for both teams.  For the Cru, rankings, preseason standings, and ASC hype does not mean that much this early in the season.  It must be about improving every day, and that will lead to greater gain.  Bulls eyes are on both teams, if you do not think so then just look at the other great institutions in our conference waiting for the upset. They are waiting to be overlooked, taken lightly, and then come in for the big win.  (All the Cru faithful has to do is remember the ETBU ASC Championship celebration on our own field to remind us of the importance of every game.)  ETBU won that game with heart, and that taught the Cru to stay ready for every game!

Bottom line:  Every down, yard, defensive stop, and special teams play must be our focus.  Don't fall in love with preseason accomplishments.  Coach Keeling, and Coach Fred, Coach Sartain, Coach Mumme, Coach Dunne, will not.

Stay hungry Cru, focused yet hungry!   :o
