All I remember was that the place was way off campus, close to where we played men's basketball.  (couldn't play on campus the HSU gym was not big enough for DI  of the Harvey Catching, and Stedman Graham days) they play at the Taylor County Col. back then.

I remember McMurry playing Harvey Catchings and Stedman Graham in the Coliseum about 1971.

I also remember the concerts in the Coliseum, such as Three Dog Night, Chicago, Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels, Jesus Christ Superstar, and the Carpenters.    Now I just 'youtube' them.   ;D

90+ in the Pacific Northwest is not 90+ in Texas. I lived 7 years in McMinnville. In the Northwest the humidity is absent and when they say it will get to 90-whatever it will get there, stay for about 5 minutes and then start to go back down. Its not like Texas where it hits 90-whatever and stays that way until 10 pm at night. Most summer evenings in Oregon are wonderfully cool and the ones in the fall are downright chilly by Texas standards.

See now Kelly, you made me want to move North again.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Safe travels to all.

Quotewith HSU on it is a gold tee shirt

Bring it, I'll trade for it. And don't forget the armadillo purse.

What, Ralph?

No Lyle Lovett?

Lovett?  He was only in junior high at that time!    ;)

hsuASChamps

I would like to congratulate Justin Feaster for outstanding performances and leadership exhibited throughout his years with HSU.  He has demonstrated exceptional levels of improvement both on and off the football field and am confident he will continue to do so throughout his senior year with Hardin-Simmons Football.  Many are aware, but others are not, Justin Feaster was interviewed by scouts and recruiters from the St. Louis Rams in Abilene this week.  HSU has an incredible team, both offensively and defensivley, for the 2009 season with an arsenal of weaponry to bring to the battle field. Best wishes to the Hardin-Simmons football team in executing total domination over the American Southwest Conference. I pray this year, although MHBU is a great team, they will no longer reign as champions of the ASC!!!!  Gentlemen, get'r done. GOOD LUCK.

Welcome hsuASChamps. Glad to have another poster on the board.   +1!  :)

Good luck to your brother, for most of the season.    ;)

McM Blue Devil

I like Sam's preview and prediction, however I think the game will be closer than that.  My concern is can McM stop AC from long sustaining drives that take time off the clock?  Also how will both teams adjust to the impending wet weather?

On my way to find a rain poncho.  Good luck to ASC teams today.

I am very interested to see Noack be the full time starter, he was very sharp in his four games last year but as he said its much different when you are the man.

Also UMHB released its game notes. http://www.cruathletics.com/news/2009/9/10/FB_0910092732.aspx?path=football

I noticed in the game notes that it doesn't show Quincy as being a senior. He is a senior, I believe. Has he decided to go with the medical red shirt and return for a full fourth season?
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

everything I've seen this year has him listed as a Junior so I guess so.  I posted an article link a few weeks ago about Quincy that also listed him as a junior

Step right up UMHB, a 4 year home and home.
HSU, thank-you for being noble opponents.

That would be nice.  I like the idea of Linfield, and if it went home and home twice we could introduce y'all to some good local fair

Just  got bad from a very sad experience at Linfield.  First I want to take full responsibity for the lost.  This was my second west coast game and they lost both. So I promise never to go to a game out here. ( I saw them beat Sul Ross in 06)

Now about reality.
The first half was fairly even but deep into the second quarter Linfield blocked the field goal their was something that changed in the game and HSU was never the same.
My friend and I decided it came down to two huge areas that Linfield dominatied. The Off line of Linfield never allowed any pressure on the Linfield quarterback.
And the corners of HSU got killed  all day long.
The fact that HSU had two of its offensive stars knocked out early made a difference but I don't think HSU was going to win on this day.
Linfield is a beautiful school.....

The saddest thing I saw was after the game.  I walked off the field I was walking in the same area as the HSU players.  And just like a little league game I see one of the HSU players dad all over the HSU head coach.  It was not pretty.  I won't say who it was but it was a starters parent.  The guy was grabbing the coaches arm.  To which coach told him to "get your hands off me."  That was pretty much it but I really felt for the coach.  You feel bad enough losing then to have some parent goes off on you it was really out of line.   Long trip home.
