Bill,

I have no idea.....2004 was pretty special.  It was just one game with this crew so we'll see as we go along but this Linfield team should be in the hunt for the NWC title and a possible playoff birth.  I'm optimistic that this could be a very good Linfield squad.

That team had a solid kicking game (even though the great punter did not have to perform much). This year that department is in development.

Mmmnn.  It sounds like they may have been giving "athletic scholarships."  It worked because they were very good.

Really good article.

Quote“Justin’s more than likely out a couple of weeks, at least, and then ZaVious is out for who knows how long. We lost a couple of really good players last week, too. That’s not a good thing, of course, but it’s part of the game,” Keeling said.

I hate to hear that. The kid's a terrific quarterback.

Just wanted to wish Mr Feaster a speedy recovery.  He is an awesome athlete, and I am sure a quality young man.  I have enjoyed watching him work

Missing from the NCAA findings were a quantitative measure of any possible difference in aid received.  Yes, more received additional aid after the appeal, but what was the average aid package for a footballer vs. a non-athlete?  That would be interesting information to have.

Would also be interesting to know how many of the non-appealers received a full ride, and again vs. the general student populace.

Missing because there was nothing there to report. Wesley only gives out a very small amount of full academic scholarships(10) dependant on the grants set aside for them. In the late 90's those 10 were only about 1/3 of total  tiution. It wasn't uitil 2000 or 2001 that those grants were raised and I don't know that any of those were for full tuition or that any went to football players.

It would be a shame if HSU lost Feaster and Robbins for any length of time especially considering they have LC, MC, and then UMHB in the next three weeks.

Anybody know why there has been no mention of the Linfield game on HSU's athletic site?

Given the turn of events in McMinnville on Saturday, I am going out on a limb and going to predict that LC goes to Abilene this weekend and comes back to Central Louisiana with a win.

I think you could be correct, Kelly.  With 2 DBs down and not having Feaster or Robbins next week could be painful.  HSU will have to find a way to either run clock and limit the LC possessions or some folks are going to have really step up and play.  If HSU wants this game the experienced Defensive front is going to have to get after the LC QB relentlessly and force mistakes.  i guess we'll see.

My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Well, thaaaaaaat's good to hear, but HSU frequently has to win a late game shoot out to win the ballgame, and I'm not sure they can with Feaster and Robbins out.
