Chris, in my opinion HSU is only solid on offense.  Their defense did not look good against MC.  They have given up a lot of points this season.

No question, I just didn't go into detail. Overall I thought they looked pretty good, especially offensively. They did struggle defensively and have given up points this year, but I would add that we've put up numbers against a couple of good defenses and HSU has played a tough schedule. Offensively they were still good up front, the backs looked good, and the QB had a great second half.

I think we can be fairly certain that they will be up for this game.  Beating UMHB and playing spoiler could be the highlight of the year given the injuries and losing 3 in a row for the 1st time in forever.  I expect Saturday will be a good game.  UMHB is going to have to find a good mix of run and pass to take advantage of everyone's skills.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

I totally agree!  The Cru scared me last week with not putting McMurry away early. If they are not focused and ready, we could get shocked!  I will say though, that the Cru needs to utilized L. Bailey more, the freshman quarterback.  The kid can run and has a super strong arm.  I love who we have at QB, but I would love to see Bailey play more.  He is exciting.

I am making the trip this weekend to Abilene.  I always look for some good BBQ, so if there is a place I should take in, please let me know.  See y'all this weekend!

Cowboyfan,

You bring up a good point, that  there has not been much chatter.  My thought is with Quincy going down last year, we understand the dissappointment HSU is facing.  On another note, I am going out on a limb here to say that this game seems eery to me.  I believe that UMHB will have to play well to win, and I do not think for one moment that records matter.  It would be a trap for the Cru to waltz on  up to HSU and think we are going to stroll in and win by showing up.  We must come ready, hungry, and focused, if not we will lose.  I know that there are those out there who say it will not happen, but we all remember Southern Oregon, and we must come ready, this is a big game, the biggest of the year it is the one that is next.  HSU has history, pride, and not to mention home field advantage, and they would love nothing better than to knock us off.  I see this as another test for the Cru to handle adversity on the road, and to win in the three phases on the game.  (Down and Distance(includes turnovers), Offense and Defence, and Special Teams). I have nothing but respect for the Cowboys and I know what they are capable of doing, as a Cru fan, I am concerned that we not get caught up in looking at HSU's injuries so that we forget to play 11 on 11 to the best of our abibilites.  I hope this helps to know what I am thinking.  We won last year without QD, and that was part of the motivation.  Cru faithful must understand that this is a 4 quarter affair on Saturday that requires every down played the best we can.  Should be another great game in the storied history of this rivalry.  I wish both teams well, and tip my hat to the Cowboys.  Go Cru!

Stay hungry, focused, humble
You should come meet us before the game @ Harold's if you want good BBQ.
Toby-what time?

We haven't declared a time yet.  Game kicks at 2, Harolds opens at 11.  Line is around the building, which isn't huge anyway, by 12

Sure.  If we can decide on a time we can meet somewhere and drive there together.  it's not too far from campus

Awesome! Well, I'm trying to finalize plans for Saturday.  I've never been up there for the game, but leaving from Belton around 8:30 should be good.  I was planning to just drive to the stadium. What is parking like.  Could I just meet you there?

The best way to get here from Belton is straight up 36.  36 comes into town on the south side of downtown (turns into south 11th) about 3.5 miles from HSU.  Generally speaking parking is easy to find, but you'll have to walk (not much farther than walking from Burt to Remschel @ MHB)  Drive time, depending on personal preference will be between 2:45 and 3:15.  Make sure that as you approach and leave Cross Plains you are within the speed limit.  DPS patrols heavily around there and there's no scenery so its easy to zone out.  I've never received a ticket, but I have been stopped and warned.  If everyone wants we can meet @ HSU, or I can give directions to the civic center which is near Harolds and just down the street from HSU and we can meet there

Even if HSU were to win on Saturday, UMHB is still in the drivers seat.  If they win out, they would be the conference champion.

They would, but a loss would break the in conference win streak, and would make winning out much more important

UMHB will lose a conference game one of these days.  Winning the ASC and getting into the playoffs is the important thing.

On another note, Coach Fred's comments about the QBs was certainly interesting.

McM Blue Devil

Weak Safety should be invited to this party at Harold's.

Very interesting. I have seen the 2 scrimmages and all 3 games. Noack has shown flashes of brilliance and is a very emotional leader. However, Bailey brings a dimension of speed to that position the UMHB has not had imop. Noack got hit pretty hard in the 1st qtr against MCM and that may have been a part of his lethargic play.
I made the comment during the game that Noack better not have too many lethargic games as Bailey will pass him by on the depth chart. Also, spoke to a former MHB QB during the game and he stated MHB has long needed someone with that type speed at QB and the system is perfect for that.

Bailey is probably the fastest QB to play at UMHB.  He also has a very strong arm.  Pretty nice combination.  And this is not to downplay what Noack has done.  He has performed well.
