HPU Back-Up

I've been reading these Post patterns for 9 years now and played at Howard Payne from 2000-2004...  There used to be some HPU updates from time-to-time on here...   Does anyone know what the hell is going on in Brownwood???  how did we get so bad??

We haven't declared a time yet.  Game kicks at 2, Harolds opens at 11.  Line is around the building, which isn't huge anyway, by 12

Well, if I and the people I'm with get there in time, can we meet y'all there?
Sure.  If we can decide on a time we can meet somewhere and drive there together.  it's not too far from campus

Awesome! Well, I'm trying to finalize plans for Saturday.  I've never been up there for the game, but leaving from Belton around 8:30 should be good.  I was planning to just drive to the stadium. What is parking like.  Could I just meet you there?
The best way to get here from Belton is straight up 36.  36 comes into town on the south side of downtown (turns into south 11th) about 3.5 miles from HSU.  Generally speaking parking is easy to find, but you'll have to walk (not much farther than walking from Burt to Remschel @ MHB)  Drive time, depending on personal preference will be between 2:45 and 3:15.  Make sure that as you approach and leave Cross Plains you are within the speed limit.  DPS patrols heavily around there and there's no scenery so its easy to zone out.  I've never received a ticket, but I have been stopped and warned.  If everyone wants we can meet @ HSU, or I can give directions to the civic center which is near Harolds and just down the street from HSU and we can meet there

Sounds great.  So I could probably leave around 9:00 then?  Directions to the civic center would be fine.  Thanks.  I am looking forward to Saturday!

Google maps is telling me to go 190 to 183 up to Hwy 20.  It says that would be around 4 hrs as the 36 route would take 5 hrs.  I usually drive a little over the speed limit, like 4 or 5 miles, so where would that put me?  You still thinking 3 hrs?

I think this is a sad day for Hardin Simmons University any readers on here close to the program will know what I am referring to.

umhb2001 - don't listen to Google Maps.  All those systems including GPS will try to take you up to 20.

Follow Toby's advice. Come up HWY 36, right at 3 hours from Temple.

Trust us Abilene folks on this one.

definitely Hwy 36.  I generally drive about 5 mph over and it takes about 3:15, but I have kids and usually have to make 1 stop.  It's right around 180 miles so by the time you factor in towns its just a bit over 3hrs.  I go 190 to 183 to 36 when I go to my moms in Killeen, but 36 is closer from belton.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

I have no idea care to let all of us in on the secret?

Cowboyfan... I just talked with a friend who spent the morning up at the fieldhouse and he hadn't heard anything.  So info would be good.

Watch this video, about the first 1:30. What a way to lose a game http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1JpJ53FbXg&feature=player_embedded#t=235

I've clicked on the link twice and see about 30 sec of a 4 minute clip.  Is that where it's supposed to be?

Move the button where it starts back to the beginning and yopu can see the whole clip.  You will know when you see it.

When Conrad comes to Abilene and eats at Harold's, let him taste some real BBQ.

PORK?  BBQ is so much more than just pork with a vinegar sauce!
