Well then I give up.

So in an effort to start up some chatter, what will it take for HSU to beat the Cru?

CruAlum58

I think it is time for the Cru to head up to Abilene and put up a huge number on the Cowboys. Kinda like HSU did to UMHB in 98. Send em to reeling to 1-4 and let them limp into the offseason. No hiding it here. I respect the Cowboys, but I thouroughly enjoy disrespecting them especially at Shelton Stadium. Play hard and finish every play.

I'll be perfectly happy with a W. Since this isn't the BCS style points don't count, but I understand your sentiment. Any news on Feaster or the HSU coaches playing cat/mouse. I know the CRU D is planning on him playing but scheming for the other QB as well since he has played well in Feaster's absence.

Is the back up QB a different type of QB or he is similar to Feaster?

He scrambles when needed, but Feaster seems more slippery to me.  The backup is a soph, so lots of learning ahead.  He plays pretty well at times and plays like a sophomore at others.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

So he is similar to Feaster, just not as good yet?

He strikes me as similar to Feaster but not as good.  It may be that when he hasn't adapted or that the system hasn't been stylized for his skill set.  I don't know and since I've only seen him play in a few games I'm not sure what is situational as far as limitations go and what is him.

Better defense, no turnovers and break even in the kicking game.

Bill McCabe

You can bet UMHB will put pressure on the QB and try to cause some mistakes.  HSU has good RBs, so that could work to HSU's advantage.  I think the game will be like every year.  Sack the QB, turnovers and kicking game.  Special teams have been a huge advantage to UMHB since the loss in Belton in 04.  Oh yea, HSU won the kicking game that day.

OK. So, is he as good as Feaster when he was a sophomore?

I posted once that when I saw him he entered the game with no hesitation whatsoever and I figured that was because he comes from one of the most lauded high school programs in Texas and big games are just another big game to him.
Size? Well, our kicker is only 5'5", 120 pounds.

When Conrad comes to Abilene and eats at Harold's, let him taste some real BBQ.

PORK?  BBQ is so much more than just pork with a vinegar sauce!

I so agree!  I've only found a few places I love it though:  Shoepfs here in Belton and Blacks in Lockhart.  I'm looking forward to Harold's.  Can't wait to see you guys there! I'll probably be wearing a "UMHB Alumni Support the Cru" shirt and my black UMHB Stagg Bowl hat.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

I didn't see that watching the game against MC.  Feaster is a special player.

I've been reading these Post patterns for 9 years now and played at Howard Payne from 2000-2004...  There used to be some HPU updates from time-to-time on here...   Does anyone know what the hell is going on in Brownwood???  how did we get so bad??

I know a little on this subject since my son played at HPU from 2005 to 2008.

Lets see the coach that recruited him wasn't the coach his first year.  The coach they had that first year (Redwine) was a good coach.  They were pretty good that year,  went 7-3 and gave UMHB their last confernece loss.

Before Coach Redwine HPU was predominately a passing team (Adam King).  The staff tried to make them more balanced between the pass and run.  Coach Redwine lasted three (3) seasons at HPU.  He was not forced to leave.

The current coach was on Coach Redwine's staff as the DC.

So since 2004 there has been three different headcoaches at HPU.  Not a lot of consistance in recruiting.

During the 2005 to 2008 seasons HPU had good teams but not teams that could overcome their own mistakes.  They would have turnovers and penalties that would kill drives.

If you want to know more PM me.

Against MC he was good and bad. In the 1st half he was 2-9 for 67 yards with three interceptions. In the second half he was 13-14 for 203 yards and a touchdown. He's not as mobile a guy as Feaster, but that might not be fair because Feaster is one of the most dangerous quarterbacks in the country moving around.

We've given up some yards this year, but every pass  he threw in the second half was on the money and they were throwing the ball down the field, not just pitch and catch type throws. If he has that kind of game they will put up points. If they can get some stops I think they will make it a game, but I don't know if they can do that or not.
