Odd fact of the day:

Last week, Bryson Tucker became the first player in UMHB history to score five different ways in his career. He has rushed for a TD and threw a TD pass, and returned a punt, kick, and as of last week a fumble for a TD.

I've been reading these Post patterns for 9 years now and played at Howard Payne from 2000-2004...  There used to be some HPU updates from time-to-time on here...   Does anyone know what the hell is going on in Brownwood???  how did we get so bad??

I know a little on this subject since my son played at HPU from 2005 to 2008.

Lets see the coach that recruited him wasn't the coach his first year.  The coach they had that first year (Redwine) was a good coach.  They were pretty good that year,  went 7-3 and gave UMHB their last confernece loss.

Before Coach Redwine HPU was predominately a passing team (Adam King).  The staff tried to make them more balanced between the pass and run.  Coach Redwine lasted three (3) seasons at HPU.  He was not forced to leave.

The current coach was on Coach Redwine's staff as the DC.

So since 2004 there has been three different headcoaches at HPU.  Not a lot of consistance in recruiting.

During the 2005 to 2008 seasons HPU had good teams but not teams that could overcome their own mistakes.  They would have turnovers and penalties that would kill drives.

If you want to know more PM me.

Thanks for the summary... tough to swallow...  I actually backed up Adam King for 4 years... Somehow HPU always had great athletes on both sides of the ball... just seems like they aren't getting the recruits to come down there anymore...  its a hard place to recruit because there is really nothing to do in Brownwood unless you're a hunter...  But good to know some HPU people still read and post...  I played for Vance Gibson and heard he is one of the highest paid 4A coaches in the state and was a finalist a few years back for the South Lake Carroll job...  Underwoods Best BBQ in Texas...  My first year at HPU our coaches banned us from posting on this website the same way these DI programs are banning their players from Twitter and Facebook...   Sting'em

My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Just wondering if anymore information on the "Sad Day at Hardin Simmons"
post was known?

According to the game notes made by UMHB, neither Feaster or Robbins are on the HSU 2-deep chart.

I really hate that these guys are hurt and do hope they get better soon.

I think the current staff will be their for a while.  They staff is young though.  A couple of former HSU Cowboys are coaches (Jordon Neal and Lance Unger
).  HPU is getting better but so are all of the teams in the ASC.  Hopefully Coach Fanara will get the program turned around and competiting again.

For all coming to the HSU game and Harold's before.  I'll be there around noon.  I'm going to be @ the Abilene Civic Center @ 12 and then drive over if anyone needs to follow me to Harolds.  The civic center is on 6th and Pine.  I'll be in the big parking lot across from 7th street driving a blue mazda MPV.  If you need directions to either harolds or the civic center send me a pm and I'll send you my cell #.

its amazing to me what bandwagonners Pat and his staff are. Does anyone here really think that UMHB walks in tomorrow and walks out with an uncontested win? In years past seems like this game got lots of pub regardless of how either team was doing. Thanks for showing your true D3 colors. This is still an important game and at the very least UMHB deserves a showcase going into this game. It has typically been a close game and is a good rivalry. Hard to believe we are less than 24 hours away from a big game for two programs and a great rivalry and no pub from the site. Thanks for nothing D3. "whats left of Hardin Simmons host # 3 UMHB" Very classless comment on the front page PAT. New low for you sir. Good luck to both teams tomorrow hope everyone has a safe game. Safe travels to all UMHB fans coming out for the game.
