I think this HSU press release sums it up pretty well:

UMHB rolled up 452 yards of offense, including 327 yards on the ground, but turned the ball over three times. HSU managed just 235 yards of offense. Byrd finished the day 7-for-20 for 130 yards and a touchdown. He was harassed by the UMHB defensive line as he was sacked three times and forced to scramble several other times.

Bailey had 151 yards rushing for UMHB and Daniels added 145.

Congrats McMurry on a great win

Congrats to everone around the McM program. I have a feeling Coach Mumme is going to be bringing a lot more victories to the program very soon.

Good game today Cru. Bailey is a stud. Remember though you just beat, "whats left of Hardin Simmons." GOOD FIGHT COWBOYS. Heard Tucker was shaken up... Never heard any conclusion is he ok?

Yeah, Bailey is awesome.  Where was Noack in the second half?  He got hit kinda hard at the end of the 1st half.  Was he shaken up and couldn't come in or just going with Bailey?

I know I may get reemed for this, but the officiating was very questionable today.  I'm trying to be open minded and fair, but when you have guys helmets being ripped off and others being pushed from behind AFTER whistles are being blown and no one throws a flag, and when you have a CLEAR fumble that is NOT called, something  ??? is going on here.  IDK, that is just MHO.
Otherwise, everything was great today.  The BBQ at Harolds was great.  I ran into some family I hadn't seen in years.  The Cru won and I made it back home safely!  Great day!
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

I think the officials were lucky that the UMHB-HSU game didn't get real ugly.  They let some stuff go that could easily have escalated.  I don't have a huge gripe about the officiating except on that roughing the punter call...that was just horrible.  The roughing the passer call on 3rd and long was definitely a penalty.  The recovered fumble could have gone either way.  The ball came free while he was going to the ground, but where were his knees?  I don't know.  All in all at least it was a consistently called game. (Even if it was consistently marginal)

I want to give big props to #99 for McMurry.  In the 4th qtr he had a fumble return for a TD and a huge sack of the ETBU QB to help secure the victory, and boy was he jacked up about it.  It was fun watching McM break the loss streak tonight.  It created an electric atmosphere that the player just fed on.  That's always fun to watch.  Good job #99 and Good job McM.

Noack was fine. I think UMHB will go with Bailey as the starter and if not he'll get most of the snaps at crunch time. The guy is too talented to keep off the field. UMHB was great on third down today 11 of 15. Those weren't just their normal third and shorts either. Bailey does a great job picking up third and long with either his feet or keeping the play alive until he finds someone.

Great win for McMurry. It was heartwarming to see them break the streak.
Great meeting everyone today. Thanks to everyone in Texas fo making it a great trip.

I must say this article strikes me as a little backhanded.  A few quotes:
QuoteThis Mary Hardin-Baylor team won't beat teams with big plays on offense. Well, until freshman quarterback LiDarral Bailey gets in the game. He's a game-breaker, as evidenced by his 50-yard, broken-field run in the fourth quarter that set up his team's third field goal.

QuoteThe sting of defeat still fresh, Girard, who had six tackles, Tracy and their defensive teammates will feel more upbeat about Saturday's game later. In the eight-game losing streak to UMHB that covers six seasons, the 23 points represents the Cowboys' second-best defensive effort.

QuoteHSU gave up 452 yards as Bailey totaled 151 yards — a third of that on his one big run — and Daniels 146 — 39 of that on his TD gallop — on a combined 38 carries. At times, it seemed like a slow death for HSU, especially when the offense got nothing against a Crusaders defense that now has given up 29 points in four wins

THE CHOCS ARE LOOKING GOOD!  Looks like Norman Joseph has gotten them over the hump.

I think that Mississippi College needs three things to get a bid.

1)  Run the table and get the ASC Pool A bid.  Done. Period.

If they lose only to UMHB, and finish with an in-region record of 8-1, then their case is improved by these events.

2)  Huntingdon earns a Pool B bid.

3)  Millsaps earns the SCAC Pool A bid.

HSWho2007

It sounded like UMHB just wanted to control the clock, physically decimate their opponent and come out with a win. I imagine they didn't want to take lots of chances because HSU is so explosive on offense. I think it was a well played game and I loved the announcers giving the oline props for blocking downfield.

VERY GOOD GAME CRU....
HANG IN THERE HSU...  KEEP "FIGHT'N....

sounds pretty backhanded to me too Toby. However HSU has never received great coverage from the Abilene Distorter News (possibly because ACU grads seem to make up a portion of its staff.) However it is what it is when you aren't putting up W's in abilene texas its hard to find a friend. Congrats to McM. Go Tribe. I had a good feeling about Mumme when they announced him as the Head Coach. Godd win. Monkey's off now go have fun.

McM Blue Devil

Really want to thank all of the well wishers who wished us congrats after our win.  It was a fun atmoshpere and hopefully one that will continue to be repeated.

I hope both HSU and McM win their games leading up to Nov 7th.  Wilford Moore will be rocking.

Go Cowboys and Indians.

Here's a link to another article from the Reporter News.  Much better article.  And make sure to look at the photosfrom the game there are some great shots.

The "whats left" comments at HSU are really not needed. You can nail it down to one. Because I truely believe if Justin Feaster was not hurt and playing there would be no issues. His injury makes the others bigger. His decision to not rehab and play is a totally different issue. I have never seen HSU in the SAME EXACT formation for that many plays in a row ever. I walked out on the field after the game and the rumblings I heard from players and fans suggest I wasnt alone in what I saw. I think we need a booth review of the booth.
